Pretty sure it was because Voldemort was a troubled little boy when Dumbledore met him at the orphanage. Dumbledore always humanised him. Also, Voldemort was named after his Muggle father, who he despised, so he couldn’t have his racist band of followers knowing he was, in fact, half-blood. People were terrified of Voldemort and didn’t dare utter his name (hence “You Know Who” or “He Who Must Not Be Named”) but Dumbledore simply saw him as Tom. Harry did too! He didn’t give a toss about saying ‘Voldemort’ out loud to others, and called him Tom to his face. Is he cancelled too now?

It is depressing. I’m finding it creeping into more and more of my everyday life - work emails, random social media posts that actually have nothing to do with trans rights, discussions overheard in the park, even threads on influencers on here.

I had a quick look. A woman can't even discuss *her* own experience without putting in caveats. How is this progressive or forward thinking in any way?!
