Yes, I had 18 follicles, 9 eggs retrieved, 8 mature & fertilized but only 2 embryos. I was so shocked to only get 2 as they say you will lose 30-50% from day 1 to day 5 so I thought I'd get 4, even 3 worst case scenario. The first resulted in a missed miscarriage at my 8 week scan(baby measured 6w3d) & the second didn't survive the thaw which apparently is extremely rare. I guess I went into it naively thinking I would be one of the lucky ones who it took only 1 retrieval.

The physical part isn't bad it's the emotional part. Try keep yourself busy & just take it day by day. Don't be thinking ahead just deal with each day would be my best advice.
Drink lots of coconut water after the retrieval.

I have a child conceived from IVF and a baby from accidental natural conception. I found IVF to be absolutely fine physically, apart from a two week period of misery post transfer where my abdomen bloated to make me look pregnant (an ironic side effect of the treatment). But emotionally, it's rough. But you'll know that already if you're dealing with infertility. If you can cope with infertility you can cope with IVF.

I tried acupuncture prior to IVF and although it was relaxing it didn't address the infertility, so I stopped. I didn't do any old wives tales at all. I tried to keep balance in my life with reasonably healthy diet, reduced stress etc but also tried not to allow the process to overwhelm me too much or to dictate my life. It can be a long old process so anything you decide to do needs to be sustainable, and shouldn't be the cause of any additional stress.

I have had 6 cycles in total.
The treatment itself ie procedures etc were to be honest a piece of piss, however, the emotional toll, for me personally, was horrific.

I have egg shared, plain old ICSI and ICSI with immune treatment.

I wish you the absolute best of luck and my only advice is to totally and utterly ignore the pineapple type advice that many people live by!!

thank you for the extra advice. I’ve been trying to. Even taking up new hobbies I haven’t done in years like knitting 😅

I started knitting then too😅 So I'm 31 & have endometriosis. I had bloodwork last week and my endometriosis marker was less now than it was after my surgery 2 and a half years ago & my periods have been much better so I feel all I been doing is working. My husband also has a varicocele so his sperm is also sub par. He was on clomid & it improved massively. Our last IUI before IVF his sperm was up to 60 mill, and post wash 11 million with 88% morphology, motility etc. If you have no issues and it is only a sperm issue you should be a good candidate for ICSI. Let me know how your retrieval goes. Wishing you the best of luck💕

I've been through four cycles: three fresh one frozen. Was very lucky and two of them resulted in my children.
Physcially I didn't find it too bad, but emotionally... it's the hardest thing i have ever done. I remember it all vividly if you have any questions.

So I have no issues except, possibly, depending on how you look at it my age (I’m late 30s) but my AMH is 27 and no physiological issues, good endometrial lining and 20ish follicles, so as far as I’m aware my age isn’t particularly effecting my fertility that much, but people focus on the woman’s age a lot. We’ve been trying for 2 years now though and absolutely nothing, so technically, as my partners sperm quality is just slightly below in many areas we are really “unexplained” Infertility, which just drives you mad. I feel like I really have no idea if things will work out for us as so far no one’s been able to tell us what the issue really is.
The doctor was saying that really IVF is as much diagnostic as it is treatment so I guess we’ll find out during the process.
also I’ll have to ask about Clomid 🙂 xx

I have. I have a 18 month old from my first round of IVF.
I tried to remain as chilled as possible and did all the old wives tales, wearing socks to bed on transfer day and macdonalds chips after transfer on the way home.
note also that you may become unusually fertile after you have your baby! I am now 21 weeks with a natural pregnancy. Complete shock but it does happen!
