Intuitive Eating

Has anyone had any success with just sacking off the diet and attempting to just eat intuitively and feeling better for it mentally? Physically? A good side effect would be weight loss of course (which would highly likely happen to me as I'm three stone overweight atm).

I'm just sick of the constant yoyoing, calorie counting, feeling awful with myself if I skip a gym session and then I kind of protest eat pmsl. So end up losing and gaining the same few lbs recently. I've had success in the past but I was absolutely miserable. I know all the things I should be doing but I am at the point in my life where I really really cannot be bothered. I don't even care if the weight comes off in minescule bits over a long period of time, I just want freedom from dieting.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences etc? I am mainly interested in the mental freedom if I am honest. And financial the amount of times over the years I've paid into expensive shakes etc, luckily not recently but it still has cost me wayy too much money!

If weight loss is a goal, in my opinion, it is not that compatible with intuitive eating. Ultimately if are prioritising losing weight, there will probably need to be restriction of some kind which will mean potentially rejecting your body's natural cues at some point.

The goal of intuitive eating is giving unconditional permission to eat anything and making peace with eating, basically developing a healthier relationship with food and eating. If you restricting or making food rules in any way while moving towards intuitive eating, you aren't really doing it.

I would not be having weight loss as a goal but obviously it would be a welcome side effect. I think it would prevent me from the restrict/binge cycle and make me so much happier! It's definitely the freedom from it all I want. Thank you for your reply, I've been reading up about it today and you are very correct about not using it as a tool to lose weight 😊
