She reads this thread right? As if her new monthly fashion vid isn't a response to this thread....
Hardly cutting edge is it? I've had sponsored ads for the Loewe Totoro collection on Facebook for weeks. Although, I must admit I have learnt how to pronounce it, I would have never pronounced it loo-ay-vay, I always assumed the e was a replacement for an umlaut and it was the German word lion (apparently the founder was German so I think the real pronunciation has probably been lost over time in Spain).
Hilarious that these women think that marketing budgets are finite and that all that their little influencer friends have to do is stay in their lanes and celebrate each other’s wins. Like girl, stop with the saccharine sentiments. Y’all are competitors. You do similar ads, probably have similar viewer demographics (white, female, mid-upper middle class, UK/Europe based, etc) and make the exact same content. You are competing for the same brand partnerships!

But it only highlights just how BEHIND the curve she is on everyone and everything!!! Fine she’ll never get on Gucci’s PR list but even AMELIA got to introduce that new Dior bag to us over a week ago and others even sooner. And they had the bag - not just a photo

I'm playing her latest video in the background (why, I do not know. Probably mostly so I can follow this thread because it entertains me - cheers for that!!) but why, oh WHY does she pronounce 'new' in that way?! You're from Manchester, love*! Same with 'dew' - is she trying to sound American? Why??!! Sorry, really petty thing to de-lurk with but it just riles me for some reason.
*Just to add I am a Scot with Yorkshire roots and have spent my life between the two, so no disrespect at all to northern accents since I, myself, am a mangled mash of Scottish and Yorkshire.

Lydia is also ashamed of her not so luxe background as well. Her mom still works at Tesco I think.
So that's why Vic always tries so hard with everything. She keeps on exaggerating hee lisp, and talks in this posh voice. She doesn't like us plebs to know she's from a middle class background.

The Gucci x North Face really showed who are considered the influential people. Susie Bubble, Tamu McPherson and Bryan Boy were sent pieces from the collection whereas Frow, Tamara and Leonie weren’t. Influence is not just about numbers of followers. (Caroline Daur got a hat and t shirt).
I love Susie & Tamu (and Bryan although he can get annoying) they talk intelligently and knowledgeably about fashion).
On a slight tangent what is it with Leonie and her vaguely pornographic get dressed with me videos?! I do like her clothes but it’s like some bizarre thing her and Alex are getting off on.

What did Victoria's parents do for a living? What's wrong with coming from a middle class background, is she disappointed her parents weren't members of the aristocracy? I don't get why she and Lydia are so ashamed of their backgrounds, no one gets to choose theirs.

I believe that American media is very self-absorbed and barely mentions happenings in other countries, as opposed to the rest of the world where we have all been hooked watching the Trumpy mess of the past 4+ years.

As a Canadian-American living again in Canada and crying my eyes out since 10 AM today, my highlights were:
- Kamala’s purple ensemble
- Doug’s excitement about everything
- Kamala’s swearing in
- 23-year old Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman shutting it down and dropping some Hamilton/George Washington quotes
- Michelle’s 70s-style belted pant suit
- Hillary probably just relaxed and feeling no pressure
- Obama fist bumping everyone
- Bernie Sanders sitting alone with his rage envelope in the cheap seats
- Everyone wearing masks!
- Biden’s moment of silence for the 400,000 American lives lost to Covid-19
- My mom texting me saying I’m experiencing history being made

You aren’t American but call our press self absorbed?? If you read NPR, AP, Washington Post, NY Times, on and on that is certainly not the case and we focus quite heavily on other parts of the world. Which is WHY I know that the UK’s system isn’t entirely much better off at this stage. Yes trump is a mess but so is Boris Johnson. Let’s not forget about Brexit.
But political figures aside, the oddity is Vicky never talking about her own homeland and only what’s happening from afar.
As someone who has worked tirelessly for the last four years to connect with voters everywhere to change the guard and get Trump out of office - I am deeply offended by what you just said.
You do not know the hardships many have dealt with here in America. How communities connected across state lines during a pandemic for this election. The uphill fight we STILL have to fight to correct so many wrongs.
If you want to follow US politics, fine — but at least have the decency to know what you’re talking about and not slam an entire nation’s press corps as self-absorbed when the UK really ought to be looking more in the mirror.
