Sick to death of the wall to wall coverage of this! 15 Jewish people were killed which was a tragedy, but absolutely dwarfed by the horrific killings on a daily basis by Israel!!
It’s two days after a horrific terrorist attack where innocent people were shot dead and maimed. Wind your neck in.

A Muslim? Wonder how the far right will try and spin the ‘they’re all terrorists’ narrative? This guy was amazingly brave and saved lives.
Just because not all Muslims are terrorists doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to speak about the specific issue of terrorism within the Muslim community. Just as not all men are wife beaters but we should still be allowed to discuss male violence. There are nuances of violence and attitude that are highly specific to different communities and a refusal to acknowledge this by the left is starting to seriously grate.

I find myself in a very bizarre political no man's land - as the daughter of a refugee I abhor the far right and have done all my life, but I am increasingly frustrated with the left as well.

Anti-Semitism has been allowed to fester here, even before October 7th. It's just that I can see and hear it from more than one particular section of society now, it's been condoned and has been relabelled as 'Anti-Zionism' but it's the same thing repackaged.

I recently had someone threaten to 'cut [my] fucking hand off if I ever see you again' and when reported I was advised by police to simply 'try not looking so Jewish' and they were dubious. This was in Manchester just before the attack.

I am heartened to know that these threats and comments aren't from real Muslims, and nothing I'm experiencing is actually anti-Semitism. Another case of 'nothing to see here'. Even being told by other people what is and isn't anti-Semitism. When I have right to feel threatened, unsafe, worried.

Yet when it turns out, we were 100% spot on, correct and no-one listened, it's 'we are sorry! Our hearts go out to you! I've never said anything bad, we support you, lessons will be learnt' etc. It's a crock of shit.

I'm absolutely mesmerized by the heroics of that guy who tackled the gunman. Men, women and children are alive because of him. Extraordinary.

I don't and will never understand the mentality of 'Stuff is happening in my country so I'm going to go out and execute random strangers who had nothing to do with it just to make a point.'

What a fucking world.

I don't want to make this a palestine v israel thing as it's not even been confirmed that that's been a reason for the senseless attack today but we both know the IDF are not just targeting Hamas. Thousands of children have been killed, journalists have been killed, doctors have been killed. Those are facts as well.
I haven't once said that Jewish people are responsible for any of this, in the same way that Muslim people arent to blame for what's happened today. In fact I'm pretty sure I said more or less the same thing as you, people in Australia (regardless of their religion) shouldn't be brought in to the israel and palestine conflict.
I'm sorry that you seem to be taking what I'm saying the wrong way.
You literally wrote 'Jews are killing Muslims' - that is a lie, it is a country's army targeting a terrorist organisation, Jews and Jewish people are not killing Muslims. Im not taking this the wrong way, you wrote those words and I'm already wary of your opinions, given that you stated on the Secret Celeb Gossip thread that Israel are responsible for the killing of Charlie Kirk and other tropes.

Muslims are also paying a price though. This time Jewish people were killed but Jews are also killing Muslims in palestine. Muslims are also feeling extremely unsafe in their homes all over the world, attacks like these don't help them.
The Quran actually states that people of Christian and Jewish faith are to be well sought of as theyre still people who follow a faith. It was afterall, a man from islamic faith (i dont know if hes practicing or not) that put himself in danger to get one of the guns from one of the gunmen. He wouldnt have done that if his religion called for the killing of jews would he? The Quran also says, if you kill one person it is as if you have killed the whole of mankind. It is, for the most part, a peaceful religion. In todays world though, no religion is without its flaws and oppression. In an ideal world everyone would live together happily and it's heartbreaking that this isn't happening.
"The Last Hour will not come until the Muslims fight against the Jews and the Muslims kill them".

As for your quote, yes this time its Jewish people. As it was at Yom Kippur when there was another attack. And all the others in Israel that get ignored. And yes, Muslims are being killed in Palestine but the IDF are targeting Hamas and, in unprecedented tactics in war time, sending multiple warnings to people to try and minimise 'collateral damage'.

But what youve just done there, Sam, is another trope. 'The Jews are killing the Muslims in Palestine'. NO. ISRAEL is targeting Hamas. Jews and Jewish people ARE NOT responsible for what is happening in the Middle East and should not be punished, targeted, make to feel guilty or responsible because 'Muslims are being targeted too!' when the fact is that its Jewish people who have been murdered today, in a totally different country; some may have never even been to Israel.

The majority of that post was wrong and is often used in Islamophobic propaganda. The amount of likes on it are actually quite vile and it wouldn't be accepted if it was any other religion.
You've got to be rage baiting now as there's no way a genuine person would come onto a thread about an antisemitic terrorist attack to say Islamophobic propaganda is the only form of anti-religious propaganda that society accepts. You realise this thread wouldn't exist if that were the case, right? Have you walked past a pro-Palestine demo or been on social media recently? It's filled with antisemitic propaganda receiving the support of thousands globally; Holocaust deniers, blood libels, etc., you even posted some yourself about Jewish wealth (although I appreciate you did so unintentionally). Then there's the rhetoric that all Catholic priests are perverts or 'kiddie fiddlers', and all nuns are abusers and facilitators of child sexual assault. And all the times God, Jesus, or other Biblical figures are portrayed in a derogatory manner, or whose names are often used in a blasphemous way. Same goes for Buddhist and Hindu deities. In fact, Islamic figures appear to be the only ones who are protected, probably more out of fear than respect, particularly since the Charlie Hebdo attack. From my experiences, it seems like every religion is fair game, but Islam is off limits.

This thread keeps coming back to Islam/Muslims, when it should be about the victims and the quest for justice for them. By all means point out when something is propaganda, it's how we learn, but there's zero need to keep posing Islam as this morally superior religion that can't be criticised. We all know the shooters had a warped, extremist view of Islam and that not all Muslims are terrorists, it doesn't need to be reiterated on every page. It's the equivalent of going onto a page about domestic abuse or sexual assault and constantly posting "not all men". It's unnecessary and, quite frankly, incredibly disrespectful to the real victims.

There's a big difference here. Muslims in Europe, USA, Australia, NZ and either non-Islamic countries can go about their business, worship and celebrate holidays without fear that radical jews are going to try and kill them.

I really wonder what goes through the minds of people who decide to kill innocent people just because of their colour and creed. What part did those innocent people play in Israel's/Netanyahu's decision to target innocent Palestinians.

This is what angers me. It's always those in power who avoid the consequences of their power/ego hungry actions. The likes of Netanyahu, Putin, Trump, or even Bush and Blair during their war period, who are safely tucked away, along with their families, suffering no repercussions for their decisions.

This thread has gone the way, exactly the way that I thought it would.

Can’t believe (well, I can), what I have just read:

Jewish people upset those who were protesting against the war in Gaza - they kicked it all off (not that Islamic terrorist attacks are happening globally - I was only a five minute walk away from one myself whilst it was happening, in Manchester in October).

Jewish people are upsetting their children by having “armed” guards at school. No question why they have to have guards - but wrong of them to have them.
Armed guards at schools is news to me. Though sadly, I know they do have security - the reason though, has been missed.

Jewish people are all mega rich, that’s why they have these guards.

Thanks for leaving it a few days before spreading this crap - but the victim blaming and slurs always appear and alwys from the same folk.

It's a real shame that this attack even happened but the fact it's targeted a group of people out of pure hatred for the group is despicable. It's largely hypocritical as well though that many posters are using this as a reason to spread misinformation and hate towards Muslims, to the extent that i cant say the killers would be thought of as real muslims without getting hate but its ok for someone to suggest the hero of the day wasnt even a muslim man. Its the hatred towards a group that caused this. Why not talk about the killers as 2 people rather than blaming a whole religion of people? Muslims have over a billion worshippers in the world, terrorists don't even make up 1% of that population. Anyone can share a quote and make up memes to share but Google is free. Meeting hate with more hate isn't going to solve a single thing in this world.
Why do you think the majority of terrorist attacks are perpetrated by Muslims? You're not helping anyone by wilfully refusing to see what is right under your nose. No one has said all Muslims are terrorists but it's absolutely ridiculous to view all of the attacks perpetrated by Muslims as isolated incidents when there are so many such attacks. Clearly there is an issue that is highly specific to that community. Why deny that?

The sad thing is with the comments about Islam though is that the shooters aren't really Muslims. Muslims are distraught by this, it's bringing more hate to their doorsteps and of course, innocent people have been killed. No "real" Muslim would ever kill people, Jewish or not. For a lot of the comments (not just here but majority of places online), they're being made by people who don't have an understanding of Islam or the majority of Muslims in the world and their beliefs and trust me when I say, they don't condone this and they shouldn't have to put statements out saying they condone it either. Obviously israel and palestine could be a reason (there really is none though) for the shooters carrying out this act but I'm pretty sure the majority of Muslims wouldn't want to see Jewish people in Australia who have nothing to do with politics in israel or palestine have to pay the price.
With what's going on in israel, Jewish people shouldn't be paying the price for it just the same way Muslims and Islam shouldn't be to blame for this. It's 2 sick people that have decided to play God and take the lives from innocent people and I hope they get the harshest sentences although we know it will never be harsh enough.
Just another thing to add as well, if the shooters were genuinely Muslim (which they're not) then they wouldn't have carried out this act, they'd know the harm it will cause to their religion.
I agree that the shooters were psychopaths who probably would have been psychopaths regardless of what culture or religion they were brought up in.

However the fact of the matter is that Islam is inherently incompatible with liberal values. It is not a liberal religion. It is homophobic and misogynist. People well say, well Christianity is too. Absolutely it is. But the fundamental difference here is that the hard left completely ignores these uncomfortable facts about Islam whilst vilifying the exact same facts about Christianity (in America anyway - less of an issue here).

The 10 year olds parents moved to Australia from Ukraine so their son didn't have to fight in the war and be killed. Their daughter is now murdered. Stop arguing on this thread. Look at the dead and wounded, it shouldn't of happened. We are all human regardless and this was evil! Have some respect 💔

It’s awful how these thread gets used - trolling really.
I agree. It's an absolute shame, and incredibly telling, that every single thread on antisemitism or atrocities against Jews, or even threads of condolence for victims of said attacks, are soon enough polluted by people offering excuses, "explanations" and defences for their murderers or for the racial hate Jews receive. They have their opinions- and are free to share them on a public board as theyre so keen to remind everyone- just as we have our opinions and are free to use the ignore button. Sadly, i think this thread is likely to be closed by Mods because, to be fair, what else can they do? In the meantime, we should remember the victims and heroes of Bondi, and not bother engaging with those whose motives for posting here are questionable at best.

I posted this on another thread, obviously off topic so reposting here also...

Firstly like others, my heart is breaking for our wonderful, beautiful, and benevolent Jewish community.

Now for my rant 😡

Unfortunately an ambient level of anti-semitism has been allowed to fester here (and no doubt worldwide) by consistently being denied by our state and national governments.
"Nothing to see here" they repeatedly said, when weekend after weekend our city streets in Melbourne were taken over by keffiyeh wearing hoards chanting anti Semitic words and holding anti Semitic placards while city businesses like shops and attractions became barren places as families feared coming into our city centre. Roads and public transport ground to a standstill with the constant disruptions of these hoards.
Synagogues and Jewish businesses were targeted with fire and anti Semitic graffiti.
Still, we were told "nothing to see here".
The lack of strong, determined and actionable condemnation was frustrating and unfathomable.
It's difficult to avoid making this 'a political issue' or using it an 'excuse' to bag the current government when they have sat on their overpaid arses and done NOTHING

Adding now, that apart from the revolting and undeniable rise of anti-semitism, the issue of gun licencing and ownership should be forefront again.
Australia thought they had taken care of it following the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996
However, one of the gumen, the father had a gun licence, and was licenced to own SIX firearms!!! Why does someone who lives in inner Sydney, need six firearms?!
I don't know if he HAD that many, and also he could have procurred shotguns without any licensing, but surely that needs to be looked at too?

So angry and sad today.

It's telling how it's already moved on from discussing the unfettered rise in antisemitism and allowance of the glorification of murderous anti-Jewish sentiment to whether the culprits in this case were real Muslims or not.

Relatedly, from Bondi to the Washington Jewish Museum shooting to October 7th to the Holocaust, Jews are routinely denied, erased or minimised from their tragedies, their persecution, their history and their humanity and often cast as the provocateurs, and there really should be a larger reckoning about why this is allowed to happen. Saying it's justified antizionism or anti-Israeli sentiment is such a feeble cop out about the growth of a very specific and, apparently, condoned racism across all sections of society.
