How to stop snoring

Hi everyone
Looking for advice on how to stop snoring? Partner has tried strips and throat sprays, as well as double pillows and a lavender spray with no luck.
I find ear plugs really uncomfortable so I would prefer to sort the problem out for him. The snoring is on his back and sides

Has he been to his GP? It could be sleep apnea so medical conditions should be ruled out. Xx

I have a similar issue. Went to my GP because I cant breathe out of my nose. He should go to his GP and rule out sleep apnea or deviated septum.

You can have an operation where the back of the throat is cauterized to make it stiffer so it stops vibrating. I'd get him to go to the Drs for some help. I think they will suggest losing weight etc first.

One of my uni flatmates used to snore so loud, it was like she was in my room. It drove me mad, I've never had such violent thoughts so my prayers really are with you!
However she got it checked out thankfully because we staged an intervention (much more gentler than it sounds) - She was given two options by her GP. Pay for an operation that should fix the problem with her nose and breathing (not on NHS) or sleep with some sort of machine running thats connected to this mask she keeps over her nose and mouth at night. She chose the latter and its worked like a dream. Whenever she forgot to wear it, the snoring would return. Which wasn't much. Safe to say, I did not live with her the following year.

I snore really bad, it's extreme. I hate it, it makes me so conscious of staying anywhere except home. I've had a sleep study done and they said I have mild sleep apnea but not severe enough to intervene. It's effected my relationship too. I hate that I'm not even aware I'm doing it to be able to stop it 😔

My partner started snoring about a year ago and I believe it’s to do with him putting on a stone or 2, not that he’s in any way overweight as he was really slim before.

It drives me insane and I either shout at him or kick him, not even sorry!

I wish I knew! My partner and I haven’t shared a room in about a year and a half. His snoring is so, so loud. He’s tried everything and it’s all been a waste of money. He’s about 4-5 stone heavier than when we met and he never used to snore so I think it could be a weight issue.

That happened to a previous partner. The more weight he put on, the worse his snoring became. He went to sleep in the room next door at my insistence as he kept waking me up and I could still hear him. He also smoked. Definitely ask to be referred to a sleep study clinic. It’s important to find out if it’s sleep apnea. It’s incredibly dangerous as well as illegal to drive with it.

I got custom made ear plugs and they are sooo much comfier than the foam ones. They do not fall out either.

Sat here reading this thread because I can't sleep in my bed with my husband as his snoring is horrific. No exaggeration. It's at such a level now, it's having a massive impact on my health and wellbeing.
Worse thing? He refuses to do a damn thing about it.

I know why it is, he has a deviated septum, is overweight and it reaches an unbelievable volume when he's had a drink. Considering 2020 has been a tit fest, it's safe to say that on the weekends we tend to have a drink. I wear ear plugs, bit they're shite so I end up staying up until the early hours when it seems to reduce.

bleeping knackered.

it’s impacting on your health and he’s refusing to do anything to help?duck that. Tell him to find somewhere else to sleep if that’s the case

My boyfriend used to snore SO LOUDLY when we first got together but he then lost 2 stone and it immediately stopped. He’ll have a little one for a few seconds when he’s had a lot to drink but 99% of the time he sleeps in silence now 😂

I'm not even over weight. I've snored really bad since I was a child and I was a really slim kid. I'm now an average weight with average BMI so I'm at a loss with what to do for myself 😩

Oh that reminds me - the drinking snore 😭 my partner is pretty much banned from red wine and port (we don’t really drink anyway) they are THE worst for snoring!

This is very interesting! He is partial to a bottle of red every now and then 🤣

My partner snores terribly. So loud. Mainly it doesn’t disturb me though as I sleep like the dead to be honest. I have kicked him and shouted at him mind you when it has 🤣
