How much was your new bathroom

It might be a little on the high side but your bathroom sounds similar sized to mìne (old terraced house) and mine cost over £3k 12 years ago. I didn't move a radiator or even replace it then, but I already had a mains running shower, and had spotlights put in.

Bear in mind that having a smaller room won't make it easier to fit, in fact the fact it's small and cramped will make it harder for the fitters. The tiling in particular was a ball-ache in my bathroom because it had to be done before the bath went in, otherwise he never would have reached the ceiling with the bath in situ as he would normally have done. My bathroom actually took longer to fit than a bigger one would have.

Just another perspective on It, but do keep getting quotes.

I'm getting quotes for my TINY bathroom can only just fit a bath, toilet and sink in of 4 grand. Just for fitting and tiling. The fixtures will be between 1500 and 2500 on top. When you stand in the bathroom there's not enough room to swing a cat! Nothing is moving except the radiator. And I'm changing the electric shower to a proper one that runs off the boiler. Does this seem about right or am I being ripped off?

We're not in London. I kow prices for work can be higher there. The room is about 2. 5m x 2.5 ish. Not big at all. Apparently to tile the walls need stripping back to brick? We've never had any sort of major refer work done so no idea of the prices. I was thi King maybe 4k tops for everything?

Hmm, taking the walls back to brick sounds a bit extreme. Then again if you've already got tiles on top of tiles that would all need to come off, and if the plaster underneath was dodgy and crumbled then they would have to start again. If your room is already small you'd lose more inches if instead they boarded it out to tile on top of. Definitely get another opinions on that though, and keep getting quotes.

Thats overpriced, I'd get about 4 quotes and dont rush into anything. Take your time. Also I'd buy the bathroom online myself because theres a massive difference in prices for the same thing.A guy I know is a bathroom fitter and said one bathroom he knew was priced at from like a grand and a half to 5 grand and it was the same bathroom but different suppliers!. I'm extremely mistrustful of tradespeople as well. Dont be scared as well to haggle them down.

Thanms. Never thought of it like that. I felt really disahrtnened haha. We have saved for 4 years thi King we would have enough. And I'm SHOCKED!

We had our tiny bathroom done. Piping was changed as bath was put other way round. Fixtures were £1700, for Bath, shower, sink, toilet and tiles. Fitting and tiling cost £1600. Flooring £200 (amtico) but husband fitted it so no costs there. Then paint and shelving etc.

It doesn't always work in my favour. I can have to wait a while for a floor to be done

I would say that it's overpriced. I would expect around half of that amount for a small bathroom. I do agree that prices vary depending the quality of the work done but as @Tor88 mentioned, I would get quotes elsewhere.

Think you’re being ripped offZ my mother had a new bathroom last year, fixtures, fitting and a new boiler and three downstairs radiators I think was £6.5k. Or at least between 6-7k. She Has a decent sized bathroom. Has a bath and shower that runs off the mains hot water too. I’d get quotes elsewhere, someone’s playing funny buggers with you

We are having ours done now. We had £3500 for fixtures (we did choose black fixtures, chrome would have been a £1000 cheaper), then about £500 on tiles and labour is £3500, but they need to build stud walls and do various other difficult things to the space.
We got out fixtures from City Plumbing, our plumber didn’t recommend places like Victorian Plumbing, but black fixtures from there would be even cheaper.
