How much have you saved in lockdown?

We got our own home in the middle of the pandemic so haven’t noticed any savings, however I was able to fully furnish the place - got an Ikea delivery 3 times when I’d enough saved for them and they were open for delivery. Now that’s done I’m concentrating on clearing my credit card (not a huge debt it’s about 1200 now and was 1500 aa month ago) and building savings up. The only difference I’ve really noticed is not having to get petrol so often as I’m mostly working from home.

Nothing, furlough for months and husband was made redundant and is now in a much lower paid job for the time being. It’s been hellish 🙈

I have paid about £1000 more off of my credit card than I would have done if lockdowns haven’t happened and haven’t had to use it towards the end of the month when running low on money.
I haven’t saved a lot else but happy to be paying off my card and properly reducing the balance rather than paying some off at the start of the month but having to use it again when getting close to payday.

We managed to save £3000 to have our garden done then another £10000 to have a new kitchen and new appliances, tiling etc.
Luckily hubby has still been able to work (limited company) and we’ve saved that money by not eating out and generally spending on crap!

Just looked back over this and delighted with myself, I’ve now got that credit card down to 207 euro! I will clear it fully next payday and then put it away safe. Then I will start saving and paying off our holidays which I’ve postponed.

If nothing else, at least I will be able to say after this is all over that I managed to not only fully furnish this place, but ultimately without having any debt incurred.

Happy days!

disgusted to be honest I realise now it’s a couple of midweek shops at Tesco picking ‘bits up’ as well as a big shop each month
Also constantly having those meal deals sandwich, packet of crisps and drink about 3 times a week
Oh and buying tit off Amazon
Petrol is £40 a month I’ve still got 3/4 tank from last March
When/if I got back things are going to be different

Over all the lockdowns and restrictions probably about 6k. I got a bit obsessed with what I termed 'aggressively saving' so I was putting away a lot more than I usually would. I thought this was the only time I'd ever be able to save like that so may as well go for it.

I think the next few months it will change though. Things are opening up, more bills coming etc. Had a good run though.

I saved £2500 over lockdown. I’ve been back at the office 4 weeks and without thinking went back to the habit of meal deals and takeaway coffees etc. From today I’m consciously cutting that back out because it’s madness how much it adds up to!
