How much do you spend on Christmas presents for your kids?

Bit nosey really but just curious. I've started browsing and bought a few tshirts for my 9yr old for xmas. Came to £70 from JD Sports.

My sons 10th birthday is in November and he's getting a gaming PC so I can't afford to go on a mad spending spree.
I'd say I usually spend about £250/300 on him for Christmas. Would you say that's quite excessive/average or not enough?!
If you have more than one child, do you spend the same amount on each child?

I don’t have kids but I would say that’s a lot to spend! Obviously it’s all relative on what your situation is and what you can afford etc :)

I spend £300-£400 on each of mine at Christmas- I have 4. I wouldn’t say what you spend is excessive or average. It’s all about working within your means. If I could afford to buy mine more I gladly would. They are only children once.
It also depends on what they want, for example this year my son wants a Xbox series x, games, headset etc. So this will obviously cost more than £400. But as I was aware of what he wanted since easter time, ive budgeted for it.

This year I’m spending £150 on my 2 for main presents (not including stocking/pjs etc etc) but they are very little and don’t need crazy amounts. In the past I have waaaaay overspent on my eldest son and it’s just got me in debt!!

Christmas is really big in our family and I’d say we could spend anywhere up to £1000 on each child at Christmas, but it’s not just on toys. We get each child a day out/trip with mum and dad where they can have some 1 on 1 time.

I think we probably spend around £250 when you add everything up - we usually get one big present (this year its £90) but then with all the bits we seem to collect in the run up to the big day, and the stocking etc it seems to mount up. We try not to go too crazy as he has lots of relatives too that buy him gifts, and we also do tend to get him what he wants during the year (if he earns them with his reward jar).

About £250-£300 each. We have two, they’re at the age where Christmas is magical and their wee faces light up. My now 5 year old cried with excitement opening his presents last year lol. 😂

Usually consists of a main present, some stocking-filler type gifts like games etc, new clothes and pyjamas, and some sweets.

Quite a bit and not necessarily the same on each child. All depends on ages and what they actually need.

As they get older the costs increase and the piles get smaller! 🤦🏼‍♀️ things are bloody expensive!

December is an expensive month for Christmas related things too. We spend much more time as a family, doing things on the run up to it etc. Maybe not so much this year 😕 but we love it, so we accept the cost.

My little ones 4th birthday is in October so far I’ve spent £300 including presents and decorations!! I buy throughout the year when I see a good deal so I don’t even realise how much I’ve spent until I total it up.
Christmas wise, I’m expecting to spend about £250 on my 4yo.
I don’t personally buy toys throughout the year unless it’s a treat for something like being good at the dentist where I might buy a small toy. But generally birthday and Christmas is when I buy majority of the toys so I’m happy to spend more

Under £100, ages 2, 5 and 7. I don’t spend the same amount on each, the little one gets hardly anything. In the future they’ll want/need more expensive gifts so while they are young and are happy with small things, I’m keeping it simple.

Oh gosh it all seems like such a lot of money when it's written down 😱 I'm trying really hard to be sensible and stick a mantra is "something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read" and then one gift from Santa and a stocking. My son's only small so it will be easier to manage for now but I thought if I start small and rein it in it will hopefully set a precedent for each year. It's hard not to spoil them!!!

Mine are 4 & 7, probably spend about £200 each. I've never actually sat down and worked it out tbh, but it probably is about that. About £100 on my husband, £100 on my sister, £50-ish on my parents and in-laws, other relatives maybe £20-£30 and teachers probably £10-£15.

Like £50 max, each. I have two. Theyre young, so im sure that'll change as they grow up!

Some of these amounts are a bit 😱

This has been a huge shock to me! I spend around 40 on each child (ages 3 and 7) on a main present from us and then 20-30 each on stocking fillers (gifts from Father Christmas). £0 on husband (mutual agreement!), £25 each on everyone else - mum, dad, MiL, FiL, siblings, nephews, nieces. We're not hard up but wasn't brought up with big birthday or Xmas celebrations so my kids getting a main gift and a good stocking seems plenty to me. Maybe they'll disagree as they get older! My husband says he was spoilt as a kid at birthdays and Christmas and he is definitely more materialistic and will spend rather than save (his own admission).

We spend about £50 for each child, we have 4. Eldest is 11 and youngest is 3.

We do birthdays a bit more special with £50 of presents then a treat day out that might be about £100/£150 for us all.
We can afford more but just don’t see the point tbh.
