Has anyone ever just looked at all the stuff they have piled up, causing untold stress, and decided bugger it ... off it all goes to the tip?

Yesss I’ve just recently done that with the spare room which needed to be empty for the new baby’s nursery. I literally walked in and thought ‘oh tit’ and called to have a skip delivered 😆. Just about everything went.

I had a spare bedroom chocy full with clothes etc. In the end I hired 2 ladies to clear. Took them 6 hours. Money well spent!

Yes after we moved I done numerous trips to the tip. Offload on fb marketplace and went through a phase of selling on vinted but I never let it hang around too long. I drop it at charity after a while or drop price.

So, my mother in law is a hoarder and it's causing so much stress in the family. Long story short, she's tripped on stuff on the stairs and is now in hospital, and her house isn't in a fit state for her to be discharged back to.

But that experience with my MIL has really made me see my own clutter in a totally different light. Im now seeing that having more stuff than I need (mostly clothes, books, beauty products) actually makes me unhappy. Like it's alot of effort to be constantly organising it, dusting stuff, putting things away. Just filled a charity shop bag of clothes and now finding it quite easy to ditch the stuff!

I declutter every 3 months! If I open drawers and cupboards and can’t find stuff I know it needs sorting. If I de clutter it helps my mind 😂 I HATE clutter and everything has to have a place. I do my daughters clothes and shoes often as she’s 3.5 so constantly growing 😐

I need to do this. Every time I have a sort out I can't bear to part with things so I end up putting it all away again until I have a meltdown and do this process all over again. I've tried selling on vinted but it doesn't move as quickly as I'd like and storing it becomes an issue. I've got rid of stuff that isn't even fit for the charity shop (clothes that have bobbled or have lost their shape from washing and wearing over the years) but stuff I haven't worn for years I keep for some reason 🙈 I need to be more ruthless I think.
