Jane’s death was tragic and she had a horrific time with childbirth. I think it was thought that it was either an infection from a retained placenta or pulmonary embolism that claimed herI read something interesting about Jane Seymour (I can't remember where sadly). Supposed to be the great love of the horrible Henry V111s life. She died very shortly after giving birth to a son and Henry mourned her terribly. Anyway apparently the poor woman had a long and terrible labour in excrutiating agony. Once Edward was born she was not allowed to rest and recover with whatever medical help was available, but was forced to get up and get dressed (with corset) to be on show holding their son so dignitaries could view him. An infection soon spread and she died, from what was a treatable condition.
No idea how accurate this is - but I thought it interesting as it is assumed she died 'in childbirth'.
It been a great debate about how she died. Some said it was a c section but this is been disputed and I believe originally made up by a foe of Henry VIII. From researching a bit more, it looks like she suffered from anaemia, possible postpartum blood loss after a long labour, dehydration from diarrhoea, and extended bed rest and inactivity caused an embolism, and probably more than one - not enough to trigger instant death, but enough to put Jane gradually into cardio-respiratory failure, shock and death. Of course medical care wasn’t that advanced in those days so they reported what they knew at the time. Here is a great article which breaks down the myths and evidence: https://tudortimes.co.uk/guest-articles/why-did-jane-seymour-die-in-childbedI read something interesting about Jane Seymour (I can't remember where sadly). With the MeToo era I think it would be great for historians to go back and look at women like Catherine Howard and re examine the history. I think a lot of history, especially with women was recorded and initially researched by men so their views on the people (for instance making Howard out to be a flirt and precocious) I think have been clouded by the way they viewed women and others as a whole.Just dreadful what those women went through.
And poor young Catherine Howard once the grotesque Henry had his beady eye on her. So many books/films portrayed her as precocious and coquettish, but it seemed she was very young, very beautiful and quite naive. And did not want to marry him at all (but obviously had absolutely no choice).
Catherine was so young and didn’t really stand a chance. I do believe that her ‘affair’ with Culpepper was grossly exaggerated. Poor girl still pledged her allegiance to Henry even when she was being executed. Catherine Parr, Henry’s final wife, later married Thomas Seymour after Henry’s death. Thomas Seymour was Jane’s brother and there was rumours of his involvement with a young Queen Elizabeth I whilst married to Catherine.Just dreadful what those women went through.

Yes good point. I *think* things are getting a bit better from the viewpoint of looking at women in history. But it has been terrible for so long. When I was at school (years ago tbf) and looking at The Tudors, Henry's wives were basically caricatures:With the MeToo era I think it would be great for historians to go back and look at women like Catherine Howard and re examine the history. I've seen this. I used to watch a clairvoyant on youtube who spoke to Diana, lord only knows why. While indulging in some new age nonsense, I discovered a lot people believe Prince Harry is the reincarnation of the Henry VIII and Meghan is Anne Boleyn.
Harry and Meghan’s relationship does have a lot of intense karma, so I can see why people think that.
But Anne Boleyn hasn’t returned she can use Henry VIII to live the high life in Hollywood and be famous. She has better things to do.
