Healthcare workers and nurses

Just thought I’d start a thread with all our nurses and healthcare workers on here and also to have a bit of a moan about the good and the bad..

Anyone else here like to join? Just feel like having a bit of a rant now and again. Seems like so much is going south in healthcare in the UK nowadays. As tempting as it may seem to leave my job I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, as bad as may seem at the moment.

I agree, I stay for my colleagues and patients. As frustrating as the job is, nothing beats working with a supportive team and appreciative patients. I've worked in offices and shops before and the work environments have been so toxic and petty, I don't think I could go back to that

You’re lucky that you found a place where you have a supportive team. This was one of the reasons I made this post, I am dealing with a very toxic environment as well as bad management :(

Mental Health worker here. I always find that the patient work is the easiest aspect of the work, whereas the politics and drama make things bloody hard.

Tell me about it… I get it, dealing with patients CAN be hard, I’m sure dealing with mental health patients is VERY hard, I know cause I’m one of them 🤣 That you can kind of deal with right? Same as my patients at some point bad ones will leave while one is kind of stuck with the work drama, bad management and lazy coworkers 😖

Hello :) third year student nurse here, already burnt out.
I feel they do it to us deliberately at uni stage to prepare us for the real world hehe. Our uni have been shocking from day 1 😭

Been working for the Health Service fo 7 years, seriously shocked at the amount of bullying that goes on, some wonderful nurses and health care staff here but some really nasty pieces of work as well, I really wonder why some people become nurses when they seem to despise people so much?

Hi I'm just wondering what shoes you guys wear? I am not a nurse but have similarities within the job. I have worn sketchers and crocs, my current crocs need replacing and not sure whether just to get more crocs or something else. I was looking at Birki Flow or the ugg Tasman clogs. I'd prefer shoes that are easily taken off so preferably slip on/off not laces and for some work I have to swap shoes so I'd prefer to do it quickly rather than wasting time putting my shoes on and off
