Headphone recommendations please!!

Ok, so at my age I look stupid with gaming headphones on but my son gave me them when he upgraded. I have ear problems and they are the only headphones I've ever been able to use comfortably, they're ace. Lots of different models & prices, have a look x

I can offer you advice on what not to get. Me and my husband both invested in some Beats by Dr Dre and we both (and my mum who has a pair too) cannot get on with them, they hurt so so much over the top of your head. We all now have Airpods which I know isn’t what you’re looking for but just wanted to say what I would definitely avoid. I hope someone can come along and recommend theirs for you.

My Beats in-ear ones don't work anymore and I only used them once for 5 minutes! Luckily they came for free with my phone and I didn't get on with the shape of them anyway. I'll definitely be staying away from Beats

@orlyb1310 I really recommend Jabra. I have some Bluetooth in-ear headphones and bought my brother some over-ear ones for Christmas and he’s delighted with them. Really good sound quality and use time. Also contacted customer services because the 10% off code I’d been given the first time round didn’t work and they sent me a 20% off code. I reckon if you sent them an email saying your code expired but you’d love to try their product they’d send you one too.

ETA: I’d never heard of them before and have no affiliation with the company! I just did a bit of reading up and they were highly rated by Wired which is usually reliable in this area.

Looking to invest in a pair of good quality on-ear/over-ear headphones as I'm pretty much listening to music every waking hour of the day and my £20 Sony ones aren't cutting it anymore so I want to treat myself. All of the online reviews are very technical and usually tailored towards gamers or music producers - I just want to know what sounds loud and good . Not looking to spend more than £100 so if any of you have any recommendations, send them this way please!

I have some wireless ones from Amazon. Think they are called Boltune. They were about £30. Really pleased with them. They cancel all the noise out and last ages before they need to be charged again.

The best earphones I ever got were the Skullcandy brand. They aren’t quite what you’re looking for in terms of quality as they are quite cheap AFAIK but I found the sound quality to be brilliant, and the longevity - I bought a pair of skullcandy in-ear buds from t.k. maxx for a fiver and they lasted eight years of daily use!

I now have AirPods, I know they aren’t what you’re looking for, but they’re brilliant. Keep a lot of noise out, fit comfortably in the ear, have noise cancellation ability (although this gave me a headache!). The over ear counterparts look a bit silly though.

Update nobody asked for : ordered some from the brand 'Lindy' on Amazon for £49.99 but I'm sending them back because I'm not fully satisfied with the quality. Also it was really stupid of me to buy a non-bluetooth pair because now I don't even have the option to use them with my phone The saga continues...

I might get airpods in a few months when we're hopefully out and about a bit more. I have some cheap Phillips in-ear bluetooth ones that do the job for walks and supermarket trips but I use over-ear ones at home. I'd honestly rather have wired ones than bluetooth though so looking forward to upgrading my phone for a new pair of the apple ones. My bluetooth ones are just another thing to charge

I’ve recently bought a pair of Sony over ear cans that were about £120. I spent a long time researching and considering whether to spend more but ultimately didn’t as I wanted them for walking. The battery lasts ages and the sound is good, they have swipe/tap controls which I like. The noise cancelling isn’t great but I was happy to compromise on that, I’d prefer to hear traffic.

Really I wanted AirPods but I have daith and tragus piercings which I think could make them uncomfortable and it was a lot of money to spend if I didn’t get on with them

ETA I nearly got Beats because they seemed the ‘smartest’ and designed to work best with an iPhone but I realised I was being ridiculous - there’s far better sound quality for the money.

I've just been gifted beats solo pros for Xmas and they are phenomenal. Before that I had jbl wireless over ears and they were pretty damn good for the price to be fair (about £80 last Xmas)
