My GHD’s are about 8 years old and not so effective, I try not to straighten my hair too much, but sometimes it’s needed. What’s everyone’s view on the best hair straightener at the moment? Just had a look online and it’s defo more of a minefield now.

Can't help but make it worse I had to replace my years back and the new ones I got im still getting used to they are too light weight compared to old ones etc. I would reccomend if boots still have some on display to have a lift and a feel.

What did you get? My current ones aren’t that heavy not sure what model they are. Not sure my boots stock decent hair tools

I just have Babyliss ones from Boots, pretty happy with them, costed around £30 down from £60 from memory. Had Remington ones before that, they were not so good.
I only use my for styling though, don’t know how good they would be at actually straightening curly hair.

I still use my GHD's. I'm thinking of getting the new Dyson straighteners when these eventually break.

I have Cloud Nine, replaced after my GHDs broke

I remembered reading they were invented by a guy involved in the original development of GHD- love them! They also have adjustable heat temperature. I got mine from Amazon

I found the Trevor Sorbie one very good, didn't frazzle my hair, or look like I took an ironing board with an iron to straighten hair out.

I’ve heard so many good things about these!
Would you say they are a lot better than your ghds?

I got these about a year ago. they was cheaper than this on a boots offer. didnt see them before hand. Just gave my mum a choice of three she choose these because they hand the most money off at the time. I used to have Rimingtons ones before what wasnt as expensive and felt better made dad couldn't fix because of a wire fault (have to break straighters pay for something then no guarantee they would go back together) but they were a good 10year plus old

After reading this I realised my GHDs are 12 years old 😂 Still going strong but I probably only use them about once a month.

Mine are actually ok, and haven’t been over used in the last few years but I am so anal with my hair. It’s long and bleached so damage is always a worry.

Thank you!

I have BaByliss ones that cost like 30quid - I had GHDs before but my hair is fine and I keep it short, plus dont actually wear it straight (use mine for curling and loose waves) so I didn't see the point in spending the money. I imagine they are worthwhile though if have long, thick or curly hair.

I've got some Toni&Guy ones that I found in B&M think they were less than £20 and honestly they're brill.

I have GHDs and Babyliss Pro 230 and honestly the babyliss ones are better I wouldn’t buy ghds again it’s all hype in my opinion 😂

I use the loreal steampods. My hair has never felt so healthy. I thought I would never be converted from ghds, until the hairdressers used the steampods on my hair.
