Hi all,

really need some advice on treatments for hair loss/thinning. My hair has never been really thick but has always been ‘normal’. Since I had my son nearly 3 years ago have lost more and more hair and it is now so thin. It has also randomly snapped off at the back which looks like a section has been cut to half the length of the rest of my hair. It’s awful!

I used to be quite a confident person but now quite frankly I feel hideous.

I’m desperate for recommendations for treatments for this. Has anyone else been in the same boat and used something that really worked?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had hair loss after my son, which is quite common. More recently I've noticed it's coming out more in the shower. My hair is quite fine anyway so it's made me concerned! I've started using plantur 39 and hoping to see some improvement.

following for anymore hints and tips as I've only been using the shampoo for a week. I am sure I've noticed a difference. Planning to get a cut soon too as it always feels thicker after a chop.

I have no advice I'm sorry but I am in the same boat. My son is just 3 and it's been falling out constantly since he was born! I also have very greasy hair so it needs washing daily which I feel doesnt help. But it's a catch 22 situation! I hate it!

I have found the same thing with my hair being greasy. I used to be able to get away with washing it once or twice a week. Now when I wash it, it’s greasy the next day. I have stopped washing it every other day now as I think that was making it worse. I am just tying it up and trying to make do.

Hi I’ve been using Waterman’s shampoo and conditioner for awhile now it’s really helped my hair, I lost a lot when my daughter was born but as fast as it was falling out ( big clumps ) I was getting new growth it definitely feels thicker and healthy. I did use it before I was even pregnant so you might have to use for a while before you see results but definitely worth a try 😊

My hairdresser recommended biotin tablets recently on Instagram- I haven’t tried them personally but the reviews on Holland and Barrett are really good. It does to say consult a gp first though I think 🤔 so bare that in mind xx

I would try massaging your scalp gently is supposed to stimulate growth. I use an oil when I do it as I have a dry hair and scalp

Nioxin three step scalp therapy, if you go on the website there’s a consultation tool which will be able to advise on what you need

Maybe go to your GP and tell them about everything and ask to get some blood tests done? A lot of Ladies here are saying it is happening to them too (& all the kids seem to be 3 yrs:unsure:), so maybe it's a normal hormone thing and the Doctor will of seen it before and can give advise?

A multi vitamin could be useful (GP will confirm that & prob advise which 1 or if you have a look & ask GP about 1s you think might be good?)

If your hair is all different lengths and is super noticeable, then a hair cut would def improve things! Hairdresser could advise on what might best suit your hair texture.

Does dry shampoo help any?

My own hair is very long (to my ribs) and very thin. It makes me feel so sad but I love long hair. I have wore clip in extensions daily for past several years to make it look better (no the extensions didn't cause the thinness, my hair was thin before that). I went to my GP (for a few issues) and got some blood tests which were fine and I took some multi vitamins which I didn't notice much difference on for anything. Then I bought myself some tape in extensions and OMG they are fantastic!!! I got them from amazon and they are fairly cheap. There is lots of youtube videos on how to put them in and take them out yourself. It's a bit of a hassle every 8 weeks but is so worth it!!! Maybe that could be an option for you too?

Try kelp. Holland and Barrett stock it.
As far as hormones go , I was told by a nurse that 3 years after you give birth you have an enormous hormone surge which may cause problems for some women .

I definitely recommend seeing your GP, they can test you for any deficiencies. Years ago my hair became very thin, so bad you could see my scalp at the parting. I had anaemia and was later diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. I started using the Nioxin 3 step process, got treatment for the anaemia and cut out gluten and my hair grew back in.

Yes, make an appointment with your GP. Get them to check your hormone levels and thyroid. Don’t waste money on expensive products until you’ve seen a doctor and got checked over. It could just be post partum hair loss which can last for ages after having a baby but best to get a professional opinion first x
