Hair looks greasy after using straighteners 😫

What do you all use to clean your straighteners with?
I tend to just use a baby wipe as there’s always hundreds of them around in this house. My logic is that there’s nothing too strong on them that’s going to ruin the plates but I can literally see any residue coming away from the plates on the wipe. My GHDs have been going for 14 years now so a baby wipe here and there clearly hasn’t done them any harm.

I’ve washed my hair tonight minus the conditioner to see if that helps.
When my hair is short I never use conditioner as it makes it greasy. Would only use it when my hair is getting towards my boobs and only use it on the hair from the neck down.

Have you tried dry shampooing after straightening? It gives my hair a real lease of life. I also find fully blow drying it first helps too.
