Hi

I have highlighted hair have some bad roots coming through. The joys of lockdown!

I bought a Pulp Riot ash toner and scalp developer (6) to put on hair. Can anyone advise how I do this? The instructions seem quite simple but does anyone know if you have to apply this with a brush or can I just used gloved fingers?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Around what base have you got in at the minute on your root area?
A brush in small sections will always give a better coverage..

Thanks for your reply.
Base? Sorry I don’t know what means! 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ Can you tell I’m not a hairdresser! 🤣
Fab, thanks. I’ll order a brush.
The roots you want to lighten.. how much lighter is the shade you have bought compared to the colour of the shade you want to go? If your developer isn't strong enough it wont lighten to the same colour as your ends and you may end up with a tide dye root area in which your original roots will probably look better and be less a mess for your hairdresser to fix... if your ends are getting brassy and that's annoying you I would only apply the toner to the mid and ends that's probably went brassy?

My hair is naturally an ash blonde. The toner is ash blonde. I think the toner should be a similar colour to my roots. The highlights are looking a bit brassy (seems fine when using a purple shampoo) but think it’s more noticeable now roots are showing.
Okay thank you, yes that makes sense. If/when I do it I’ll apply to ends and mid section.

You should be fine chick, I thought maybe you were a dark brown looking to turn ash blonde lol

Not sure if anyone is watching this thread but if you can help I’d appreciate it!

I normally have blonde highlights but have a year’s worth of growth (I had a baby!). My hair is mousey brown and the ombré look is now just looking terrible. Any advice on what I could do myself? I’ll be too anxious to go to a hairdresser for a long time. Am I best to box dye darker? Or try an all over blonde? I know neither is really advisable but I look terrible.

Thanks!
