Graeme is a Scottish man who cares for his mum Linda, who has advanced Alzheimer's. He's recently been told by social work not to share his mum on social media anymore, as he was featuring her in adverts which invaded her privacy and showed her in some vulnerable situations.

What do you all think? Is Graeme right or is he wrong? Have at it!

Went off him pretty quickly too. Linda may have given consent to being posted online when she had capacity but she isn't able to withdraw that consent now. It should have stopped a long time ago. Education doesn't mean exploitation!

I’m watched this tossed greetin about hard done to he was on a live the other night and when answering a question he said how his mum has no problems with being able to eat. Aye well just proves the point he put all the food down his Mum’s front for that advert. Guy is a disgrace.

How he exploits his mum is sickening . He’s a bogging bastard moving his mum to another care home due to the previous one not allowing him to film her , the poor woman will have been settled in her care home , social media comes first though . He does seem good to her , but a decent son who cares for their mum would have stopped putting her on tiktok long ago

Seen a post from Graeme on his Facebook a few days ago, looks like he might end up having permission to start posting his mum again. I completely understand that he wants to raise awareness about Alzheimer's but he's going about doing it the wrong way.
It’s nothing about raising awareness it’s about it him raising money using his vulnerable mother for content. He has no other content apart from her.

Playing the bloody victim.
Did anyone else on here see that Water Wipes ad?
Quite obvious he poured food down her front for it. Doesn’t mention that though does he? Scumbag.
I saw it and felt totally sick to my stomach. It was so obviously staged and I felt it really ridiculed his mum. Followed him early on when I thought he was being sincere but got increasingly uncomfortable as Linda was shown totally inappropriately imo and blocked him.

If someone can’t eat to the extent they have slittered that amount of food down their front then they need a referral to SALT for appropriate action to be taken. She’s either 1. Unable to eat and at the risk of aspiration. 2. Been forced to try eat food she doesn’t like or 3. Had food put down her for her son to exploit and make a quick buck 🙄
Hmmmm…🤔

Hope everyone reports him to the new care home and they’re on the ball about allowing him to exploit his poor mother any further.

Just tried to watch his tiktok but couldn't get to the end of it. All that whinging just for attention and the comments just encouraging the beg. I fear he has got permission from the new care home to keep filming and that's why he's back.

Do you know what bugs me - care home spaces are like hen’s teeth in the west coast of Scotland - I would like to know how he managed to get her moved to a home in another local authority when people are lying in hospitals jamming up beds through no fault of their own waiting for someone else to die for their space. That means a person in that area was put further down the list to accommodate his mother cos of his carry on.

I don't like how he films his mum in distress. She can't consent to being recorded anymore as she doesn't have the mental capacity and I feel like Graeme's just taking advantage of this and exploiting her. Don't get me wrong I think he's great to his mum by how he's patient with her, how he talks to her and takes care of her, but Graeme please respect the woman's dignity and keep her away from the camera.

I get he wants to raise awareness about Alzheimer's which is absolutely fine but I wish he would do it in a more respectful way and a way that isn't exploiting his poor mum. I also think moving her care home will not be good for her at all, as she'll be in a strange environment with strange faces.

I would imagine the social care dept at GCC would have had to liaise with whatever area they moved her to as you can’t just move people unless you have mega bucks paying for it yourself and from what I can gather in this area of Scotland is still near bloody impossible without being on a waiting list for ages.
He most certainly should not be using her for adverts.
Also I do not buy that he struggled to find legal advice cos no one deals with it. When I did it, it was very clearly defined welfare POA put in place by the person when they still have capacity and guardianship is when you have to apply after or because they lose capacity and is a nightmare to get. I am wondering if GCC tried to have the POA overturned and get guardianship themselves - this is something I only learned recently that social care can take guardianship of people who have not got a POA in place if required.
It’s a subject close to my heart hence why I am going on about it so much 🙈🤣
Can’t get legal advice because he’s in the wrong and no lawyer would agree with him!!

Power of attorney can’t be changed as his mum doesn’t have capacity. She is the only person who can change it. However the Office of the Public Guardian are responsible for overseeing them so they may have stepped in or local authority have. The Adults with Incapacity Scotland Act provides local authority ie social workers powers to deal with these types of situations x

Hopefully they’re keeping an eye on him. They must know he’s keen to keep the gravy train running by moving her care homes. Poor woman is confused enough, the last thing she needed was being moved for absolutely no reason. Only to benefit her greedy son.
