Going grey in 20s

Just wondering if anyone else on here is experiencing lots of grey hairs coming through in their 20s? My mum started going grey when she was in her 20s so I think it’s genetic. She’s always been really self conscious of it, but if I end up going completely grey I’m going to embrace it. Recently been noticing even more greys coming through...how long did it take for you to go totally grey and how do you deal with it?

I have a strand of grey hair in the front of my head and I hate it. I’ve tried to dye it but it doesn’t take any hair dye. So I’ll just have to live with it.

I have the odd few (I’m 27) but going blonde has helped disguise it. I sometimes pull them out as they’re only the odd thin strand 😬 My mum and nana went grey in their 20s so it must be genetics.

I have lots of greys (over 50% I think) and I’m 28. I found my first one when I was 16, it was very gradual at first but over the last couple of years the greying has accelerated. Definitely genetics for me as my dad started going grey early.
I dye my hair but only every few months so I do have roots showing a lot of the time- I don’t know why I don’t just let it go grey and embrace it😂

I started going grey in my mid 30’s. Started off with the badger stripe at the front and then the greys increased elsewhere. I then started getting my hair dyed at the hairdressers. I was sad to lose my naturally dark brown hair colour, as no dye could match it. As I got older, I realised my skin tone was also changing and so opted for a few blonde streaks in my hair to soften the blow of going grey and having to embrace a lighter hair dye colour.

Anyhow, about 5 years ago I decided to let my hair go grey and stopped getting it dyed every 4 weeks. It was hard going at first because of the grey roots coming through the existing colour. However, I am glad I persevered and now, I have my naturally dark colour underneath, a bit of blonde and mostly grey. The colours all work well together.

I am 55 years old and embracing my grey colour has given me confidence, not to mention more money in my purse from not spending it at the hairdresser every 4 weeks! 🤣

Good on you for embracing your grey, I started to grey in my early 20s, had the mallon streak, I still dye mine with help from oh, only costs me £7 every 8 weeks,.

Honey, I started going grey at 11!!! Thanks to genetics! 1 of my cousins was fully grey by 19! I am now 70% grey according to my hairdresser! But I get blonde high lights and tint on the sides and you would never be able to tell! I don’t let it get me down at all!

I’m 28 btw

27 and have a fair amount of greys, a particularly light patch around the front of my face, but having it pretty ashy blonde has helped to blend it in. And that particular patch is pretty white so it looks a little like that face framing blonde that people are doing at the minute.

If you don't want to go grey then blonde highlights definitely help. They blend in with your natural hair colour and the new grey.

When you get to my age - 57 - practically every female is blonde :sneaky:

I'm not sure when I started going grey as I always used to dye my hair so never noticed until I grew it out to go back to my natural colour at 27 and I realised I had a few greys which quickly turned into a grey stripe at the front and some odd strands underneath which you could see when I pulled my hair back. I was surprised as I'd always just assumed I wouldn't start getting greys til I guess around mid thirties and I didn't realise how common it was to start going grey in your twenties.

I'm 30 now and the greying is definitely accelerating so I think I'll be back to dying it soon.

However my parents were quite a bit older than I was when they started going grey.

I’ve had a few grey hairs since I was 18! I know it’s probably just an old wives tale but I’ve always been too scared to pull them out in case loads more grow back so I cut them really short with nail scissors and forget about them for six months.

My hair is dark brown, really very dark brown - and I don’t dye it at all. I’ve had grey hairs since I was 15 and now at 34 I have absolutely loads.

Weirdly for me, I’m not going grey all at my roots, but rather I have lots of individual completely grey hairs, they are almost silver. I don’t actually care, I dont mind having grey hair at all, it’s only a colour. I won’t be dyeing it in future to cover up the greys. No reason to cover them imo!

I started going grey in my early twenties and I am 31 now. I have quite thick hair so fortunately the grey ones are hidden by the brown ones. If I see the odd one I pluck it out (probably will get crucified for this). Will probably end up bald before going fully grey.

Early 20s when I went gray. Just turned 40 and according to my hairdresser I am 75% gray which is mostly on top. I have not seen my natural hair color since I was probably 12. I have thought about embracing it but I just can't. I think it looks really good on some people. But I don't think I am one of them. I think it would age me tremendously.

I noticed a grey hair in April. Actually OH noticed it and pulled it out for me 😂

I have like 100 more now.

Thanks covid, on top of everything else you’ve turned me grey in 6 months before I’m even 30!!

I’m the same. I’ve noticed a few grey hairs near my temples and I am 30. My partner has also started showing a lot more salt ‘n’ pepper flecks all over his head - I swear lockdown has accelerated the greys... my parents didn’t go grey until early 50s so I’m convinced it is the anxiety :D

I have a white eyelash, ahaha. All the rest are mousey brown but I have one persistent eyelash that always grows white. Genetics are interesting.

I found my first grey a few weeks ago (I’m 27) just a random strand of hair that’s sprouted at the top of my head 😂 I’m ignoring it for now because of Covid/WFH so hardly anyone sees me at the moment, plus it’s quite easy to hide. I’m scared to pull it out because of the myth where you apparently grow loads more afterwards.

My fella has just turned 30 and he’ll be fully grey in a couple of years! He started when he was around 18 apparently.

I started noticing I was getting grey hairs a few years ago (28 yr old). It was really starting to get to me so during lock down just decided to dye my hair at home for the first time. It was so easy and I'm glad I have because I feel much better. I think it's genetic. My brother has greys and has a bald patch and he's only a few years older than me.

I'm 25 and had my baby nearly 8 months ago, FTM and im getting greys. I'm low on Vitamin B12 and iron & the doctor thinks it is cos of that, im so tired im not even that bothered ATM 😂
