Is it part of Legend’s contract that he has to appear in every episode? None of the other injured gladiators have made appearances once they’re out
Legend is a legend. I was sad when he was injured as I love the character he plays, so I'm glad he's still being included somehow.

I think Matt playing Legend has to be careful with what he says in interviews moving forward. The BBC wont want him to appear with his outburst he has had this week. While he has some good opinion on the fitness of children these days, saying that fat kids should do more PE instead of learning to read hasn't gone down too well. I full agree more PE (and arts) need to be brought into the curriculum, he didnt say it in the best of ways.

I think they realise that Legend has more charisma and presence than the other Gladiators hence they include him and not the others. I don’t mean that in a nasty way to the other Gladiators, but I can see why he’s being kept on screen.

But you could also argue that the other Gladiators are getting the better deal if they’re being paid and not appearing whereas Legend is doing both. But obviously depends on their contracts.

I’m a couple of episodes behind, have we seen Athena be injured on screen or was it not shown? We obviously saw Diamond’s, but just wondered how Athena’s happened.

I suspect legend was only at one maybe two recordings and they insert different scenes into extra episodes.

We've seen before they have a pick and mix approach to editing!

That’s true and we would probably not know as everyone wears the same outfit, hair style etc for a good chunk of the episodes recoded!

Yes we said that about him asking her if she'd baked for him.
It was also the day they filmed the kids gauntlet.
You jogged my memory about Athena- I dont think they've mentioned her for weeks. Fury wasnt competing that day either but came out at the end with her shoulder strapped up

I don't think Bionic appeared either so it will be interesting to see the next 2 QFs to see what happened to them.

I don't know whether its just me, I am really enjoying this series, but there isn't a contestant that wows me. Previous series, there's always someone that I've been like wow they are impressive or someone with a really great personality who stands out but there isn’t anyone this year. Particularly, with the women, most of them kind of look the same and have similar sounding names so its hard to work out who is who sometimes!

I feel the same, I’m not hugely rooting for any of them. But there isn’t any out and out knobheads this time!

The contenders definitely don’t seem like they’re the same standard as the previous two series. I’m entertained each episode, but I do think the contenders not being as strong is symptomatic of a larger issue for me which is the show needs a bit of a refresh.

In the original series the gladiators were fit but reasonably normal. Why now are the men in particular so over tall? So many well over 6ft. Such a disadvantage for the contestants.

This year am struggling to remember any of the contestants bar the wee teacher guy from wigan.i thought he would of won the show...

Well two miraculous things happened in this weeks ep - Viper won ANOTHER event and he made me laugh by calling the contender “little baker boy”.

Re gladiators being tall and big - I guess that’s the point? The average height of the 90s glads was 6ft. The outliers who were shorter were cobra, wolf and rhino. But they were built like brick shit houses. I’m kind of enjoying normal contenders because last season everyone was a gym owner.

Hunter did a podcast talking about his time on gladiators - I’ve only caught snippets but it was quite interesting. While filing the glads would have no idea what event they were going to do. They’d just get a bite under their dressing room door saying “hunter - wall or Hunter-pyramid” so they didn’t really have a lot of time to prepare.

I agree. I don't need to watch a series of PTs and gym owners. I much prefer the bakers, school teachers, doctors etc. It's a more interesting story.

Agreed, people who are not spending their working day keeping fit are really putting far more effort into the competition.

There seems to an abundance of rugby players this year but more so those who play it in their spare time and they have a regular job alongside it

Ah I love Ella, the woman that won on Saturday night. And Finn! We were rooting for them both.

I just think things like PT and boot camps/gym bods weren’t so ‘big’ in the 90s as ubiquitous as they are now. It was always going to appeal to those who are super active and sporty, even back in the 90s, but there is a bigger pool to pick from now.

I’m going on the 24th may - seeing Nitro and Dynamite. The live tour was awesome and I’d love to go again too! Developed a bit of a crush on Giant so I’d now rather I was seeing him and Fury…

Is anyone going to the Gladiators experience in Birmingham? I looked to go when Nitro and Dynamite were there but for 1 adult, 1 child and 1 spectator it was going to be £205! I would rather put that towards the live tour again.
