Multiple people complained to the duty manager that night and the second part of the show, no-one gave a toss and were all up dancing. That sounds like a specific usher problem but I also know that they're probably under some pressure from above. Although I don't understand why you'd think a GM songs gig wouldn't have dancing?
I'm a quick reader, but I had to take the book slowly, it definitely played on my head - as much as I'm glad to have read it, it came with sadness didn't itI saw Fast Love in the Indigo at the O2 in London and plenty of people were dancing but that might be venue dependant. Must look up Rob Lamberti near me and see for myself.
Finally finished the biography of George yesterday and just sat for about five minutes sobbing. I also didn't realise how unpopular Goss was amongst George's older and longstanding friends. The less said about the last guy, the better.
Even as a fan at the time, so much was hidden publicly and it feels deeply unjust he's gone. However, I will still think that, whether that's tomorrow or when I'm 95.
Who is the author of this book, so I can look it up?I'm a quick reader, but I had to take the book slowly, it definitely played on my head - as much as I'm glad to have read it, it came with sadness didn't it. Yes, Kenny didn't come out well, or Fadi. How different life may have been for him if he hadn't lost Anselmo . Terrible.
Great!This one @Flowergirl14
Just devastated is how I felt afterwards. I mean the rumours and gossipmongers weren't shy about the stuff George was up to, at the time, but I think seeing it put down on paper gave it more coherence, if you like.I'm a quick reader, but I had to take the book slowly, it definitely played on my head - as much as I'm glad to have read it, it came with sadness didn't it. I'll be honest I didn't want to put on this thread how it made me feel - I loved his spirit, his sense of fun, but there was clearly a downside to that which I recogniseJust devastated is how I felt afterwards. So many people that were hangers-on too who didn't have his best interests at heart, just their own. But you also can't help someone who doesn't want any help
Ahhh Caroline Aherne - so clever, talented, loved watching herI don't usually get terribly upset when a celebrity passes away,
but the 3 that did make me feel very sad were:
George Michael
Caroline Aherne
George Best
All 3 very talented in their respective fields.
Absolute 80s here and "Everything She Wants" is currently on. If "Careless Whisper" doesn't win though, it'd be a miracle.Who else is listening to smooth all time top 500? And hoping careless whisper is number 1 again
There's a fairly even handed review of the book -My immediate thoughts on seeing this new book about George was "how the hell did he sign those books!!"
Saw Rob Lamberti last night! Amazing! ( pardon thd pun) lots of dancing and as you say accurate and polished in how true the performances are to the original.Ok so we went to the Choose George show at our local theatre last night. While it was lovely it was so close to home, I don't think we would go again. I agree with @Flowergirl14 he does sound very much like George but I had a problem with the arrangement of some of the songs. Outside is my favourite and I hated his arrangement of it. Sounds really picky but I see tributes because I love George's music.
Of the 3 tributes we have seen, I would always stick with Rob Lamberti. He is the most true to George's original versions.
The Fast Love show is good but for us, it was soured by the theatre staff who complained about people dancing.
Funnily enough when we got to the theatre last night, we checked if they were ok with us dancing and they said if you are dancing in front of people, then move to the aisles and enjoy yourselves. We encourage people to enjoy the shows as much as possible.
Oh what have I missed?Omg I’m so excited for the cinema next month for Wham.
