I'm so jealous! Couldn't have gone, because of age, not desire, so delighted to see this
Same - my mum banned me as she thought it was disgusting putting shuttlecocks down their shorts! George releases A Different Corner and mother is hooked! I always reminded her of this each time we saw George live.

I was 3 so can't even blame my mum for that missed opportunity. But hey, at least your mother came round to the joy that is George

What a brilliant present! I used to love looking at the inner sleeve of the Fantastic album at all the photos of George looking moody sitting on steps or grinning boyishly wearing capri length jeans.

Hubs bought me this - just finished it, quite a tome, but worth it. Enjoyed.

A bit heavy in places around the music executives, Sony etc. I came away thinking I understood GM more.

Not sure if to say I absolutely recommend, as everyone sees things differently - but as an oldie that thought they knew enough about Wham! and GM as a solo artist, I learnt from it.

I went to see a George Michael tribute act last night...Steve Mitchell. He was very good, uncanny how he sounded like George when just chatting normally.

They showed a montage of GM at the end, of him on Parkinson and with James Corden.
And then at the end he said, let's take a minute to remember George.
I found it quite moving.

Tried to upload a video from the show, but too large.

I've ordered this and hope to have it by the weekend. Thank you for letting us know, especially as the music industry is still pure fuckery.

I wasn't sure whether to post up, Carefree what's enjoyable to someone, not necessarily with others but for me, I enjoyed it. It covers to them starting out, right through to George's passing. Plenty of snippets from those that were close to him musically too. It did seem that there were plenty that used him for money , incredibly generous with so much.

When I finished it I felt sad - sad for what he had gone through, so much talent and yet was so fearful of how he would be perceived because of his sexuality.

I hope you enjoy it. I'm glad Hubs bought it for me, big brownie points earnt

I was watching George's goddaughter being interviewed the other day. George sounded like her second dad and you could tell she thought a massive amount of him. So much so she packed in her job in her dad's industry a few months after George's death as it disgusted her so much.
When her parents divorced her mother was struggling to make ends meet and George came in to support them. She said Elton John was also her godfather but when her parents split he went with her father and George sided with her mother.

Sorry to double post but I've started the book by James Gavin mentioned before. I'm only on page 18 and it's already made me cry a couple of times.

Ok so we went to the Choose George show at our local theatre last night. While it was lovely it was so close to home, I don't think we would go again. I agree with @Flowergirl14 he does sound very much like George but I had a problem with the arrangement of some of the songs. Outside is my favourite and I hated his arrangement of it. Sounds really picky but I see tributes because I love George's music.
Of the 3 tributes we have seen, I would always stick with Rob Lamberti. He is the most true to George's original versions.
The Fast Love show is good but for us, it was soured by the theatre staff who complained about people dancing.
Funnily enough when we got to the theatre last night, we checked if they were ok with us dancing and they said if you are dancing in front of people, then move to the aisles and enjoy yourselves. We encourage people to enjoy the shows as much as possible.

Glad you enjoyed. I agree Rob Lamberti is my favourite....

I saw Fast Love in the Indigo at the O2 in London and plenty of people were dancing but that might be venue dependant. Must look up Rob Lamberti near me and see for myself.

Finally finished the biography of George yesterday and just sat for about five minutes sobbing. I also didn't realise how unpopular Goss was amongst George's older and longstanding friends. The less said about the last guy, the better.

Even as a fan at the time, so much was hidden publicly and it feels deeply unjust he's gone. However, I will still think that, whether that's tomorrow or when I'm 95.

It was The Mayflower in Southampton and one usher was so rude. There were about 30 people up dancing in our section and all were told to sit down despite not blocking anyone's view.
