Saying ‘midwife’ could upset transgender people, medics warned
Academics advise NHS to stop using centuries-old job description because it ‘upholds the patriarchy’www.telegraph.co.uk
‘Academics claim in a new research paper that the term, which has been used since medieval times, is out of date and should be replaced with “lead perinatal practitioner”.’
‘“As trans and non-binary people increasingly require access to midwifery services, this paper proposes an alternative professional title that is inclusive and liberates midwives from continuously reinscribing the sex/gender binary in their nomenclature,” the authors write’
Yes, and some numpty has already posted about the 'Transphobia on other parts of this forum'. In other words, the conversation in here.Has anyone noticed that the trans and allies thread on here is active again? Handmaidens galore.
Well that's very revealing, isn't it. Look at the body language. He doesn't like being challenged by a woman, does he?Just saw this on Xitter from more than 20 years ago. The warning signs were all there. Impressed with Nigella
Quite apart from the terrible racism, why are the NHS siding with this awful man over one if their employees? They should be protecting their staff from abuse. It doesn't matter if this person was male female or trans they shouldn't get away with attacking a nurse in that way. That has made me so angry. I really don’t get how time and time again, the NHS seems to value delusion over fact. How is it worse for a man, and a sexual deviant one at that, to be referred to as what he actually is, than it is to use a vile, highly offensive racial slur aggressively and repeatedly at a dedicated nurse. How come identifying as trans seems to exempt anyone from any wrongdoing? Yet, anyone being honest and referring to biological sex is treated as if they have committed some terrible heinous crime.
BIB I disagree. I don't want ANY male in my toilets, changing rooms, or anywhere else they fancy. They are men.I agree but sadly enough, for a lot of people the damage is done and now is just too late. So we are dealing with the aftermaths of a large social / biological experiment which still continues. I feel tremendous amounts of empathy towards those that decided to technically castrate themselves under medical supervision.
Don't get me wrong, there are also trans folks that you would not guess that, indeed, they are trans, because they "pass" and live normal healthy lives. They live happy with their choice. But that is not the issue or the reason of this thread.
The cultural battle we need to win, mostly as women, is to call out predatory behaviours. A trans girl that looks, in a bad day, as a masculine looking woman, it will never be an issue, you are not worried about those cases because they do as much as possible to remain unnoticed.
A cross-dressed MAN in the female bathroom, swinging his dick as if nobody will blink an eye, that is predatory behaviour. We truly need to differentiate those 2 things.
The part of thinking it as a psychiatric condition, does not mean that is actually legal. If someone has a psychotic breakdown and kills someone (limit example), of course that person is a danger to society and needs to go institutionalized, likely forever. If we could normalise seeking help instead of making your whole identity based on the fact that you are a degenerate, well...
I may be idealistic! A girl can dream!

Interesting body language from Nigella, she was leaning away quite noticeably.Just saw this on Xitter from more than 20 years ago. The warning signs were all there. Impressed with Nigella
Natalee missed a trick here, if she'd called her gym The G Spot none of the blokes in frocks would be able to find itCould have predicted that would happen, and her conciliatory statement that still bravely does not give them what they want. Now men will flock there to see if they can get in and then post it all over social media, ruining her USP. I hope the sex matters lot back her up, she is one of the few businesses openly taking a stand on this.
I don't know if it's true, but I heard that JK's agent advised her to use her initials so that the publishers wouldn't know that her book was written by a woman. Because publishers tend to prefer male writers, and women's works are often overlooked and ignored. There is a long history of women scholars and scientists using male or androgynous names, to ensure that their work is recognised, so the fact that one of the most successful female authors in history had to use her gender-neutral initials to get a publisher to even read her book, speaks volumes really, doesn't it? The handmaidens don't appreciate the women who have gone before them, who fought for our rights, our independence and even our public toilets. If they think that they can just hand these hard-won rights to men in lipstick, they've got no ideaI've just deleted my annoying handmaiden of a cousin from FB. I posted some JKR wisdom, cuz asked if JKR was so cool why doesn't she use the name assigned to her at birth instead of a 'gender-affirming' one? (I think she meant neutral? Who knows.)
I don't want to turn my FB into an echo chamber, I'm all for discussion but baby cousin came flying in like a miniature arsehole so I took great pleasure in pressing the unfriend button.
She's called me a whiny little bitch before for asking her why she's hellbent on letting men into women's spaces.
