Today I’ve seen a report from an organisation called Stockholm.org if I remember rightly which said that in Turkey in September 48 women/girls were murdered. The highest monthly femicide total ever recorded. 23 were murdered by their partners. Where’s their day of remembrance?

and what about the girls and women of Afghanistan..... they were getting progressive as a Nation in the 1950s- 1970s , but now Women and girls there have no rights whatsoever, cannot leave their home - even outside in a back yard without a male relative escorting them and only then in a full burkha.......... have to paint out or screen downstairs windows so that Women cannot see out. Under pain of a death sentence.
Are beaten and raped with no recourse & have to suffer it in absolute silence as all Women are now bound to complete silence, no sounds whatsoever. Endurance in total silence. ......and have no hospital treatment or medications whatsoever ; sicken in pain and die where they lie when they become ill, probably beaten to death as well to ' hurry them along', for the next girl to take their place......
Cannot speak, now. It's not allowed under any circumstances whatsoever, under punishment of whipping or execution in public , with the men watching for sport.

Many Women starve to death there now , half-crazed and trapped on their own in houses because if they step outside without a male escort they are beaten to death and lie where they die.

The taliban , when they decreed that Women must stay in their homes permanently , beat the Women out of a girls home , and locked the doors, keeping the disabled girls in to starve to death - after removing the other girls for gang-raping and then stoning to death ( because they'd just gang-raped them & under taliban decree, must then be stoned to death) .

400 of them. In Kabul, alone.

It never ceases to amaze me/piss me off that when women are pregnant we are told we can't eat certain things, can't drink certain things, can't take certain medications BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW HOW IT IMPACTS THE FOETUS but taking cross sex hormones is totally fine even though WE DON'T KNOW HOW IT IMPACTS THE FOETUS.

Had a fascinating (frustrating) debate with a woke friend recently (who's in the midst of a Sociology degree, naturally) about something she considered to be cultural appropriation but I thought was cultural appreciation. This same friend is, of course, a vocal trans ally, and will hear no nuance - they are all glorious and to be protected at all costs.

It struck me suddenly mid-debate; how ironic the woke are so against cultural appropriation but view trans as something holy and untouchable? Is it not, in many ways, the ultimate example of cultural appropriation??

Why is gender the ONE thing held on a pedestal to do whatever you like with? Dreadlocks are cultural appropriation but dressing like a woman and cosplaying having a period isn't gender appropriation?

My (NHS) workplace has proudly announced that they'll be flying the trans flag during Trans Worship Week, or whatever it's called. I'm seriously considering emailing our Chief Exec (a man) and our General Manager (also a man) to ask if they'll be flying the suffragette flag on the next International Women's Day in honour of the 2 women per week who are killed, almost always by a man, and usually by a man they know?

Last month I went on a work trip to Egypt which included two days at the beach at the end. Never been on anything like that before and didn't want to go as it's all meetings and listening to presentations then 'hospitality' that you'd rather avoid but I digress. In the whole time I was there I didn't see a single Egyptian woman other than at the check in area going home at the airport (and I'm sure they were only there to search females going through security). The waiters, cleaners, shop workers, drivers etc were all men. A colleague commented that it was nice to see men cleaning for a change but where are all their women? all shut up in the house breeding and cleaning while the men are out socialising, chatting, working and living full lives. I googled it and over 90% of girls undergo FGM there too. Women and girls have such limited lives in so much of the world don't they? grow up then cover up, get pushed into a marriage and produce babies with your only hope being that your husband doesn't stink and beat you up.

I'm turning into a really angry feminist these days.

I don't agree with Kemi Badenoch on any issue other than that of gender ideology. However, as we know on this thread, that issue is all important and crosses over into so many areas that affect women. As ever, J.K. Rowling encompasses my thoughts in her tweets today where she says that she is delighted that the Opposition is now headed by a woman who will stand-up for sex-based rights. And with her usual humour, she also offers her thoughts and prayers to David Tennant 'at this difficult time'!

Ah yes, the old living life as a woman. I do think it would be useful for us to draw up a list of what this entails. Obviously, wearing shirt skirts, high heels and lipstick is a given but what about the other stuff? Off the top of my head, I've got:
Knowing whether it's recycling or normal bin that week
Being the first point of contact for the school even though they know your husband works at home and you work miles away and don't drive
Making sure there's new toothbrushes, spare soap, toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo (and also knowing which member of the family uses which brand)
Keeping track of everybody's birthdays and what they got last year
Knowing that laundry doesn't put itself away
Making sure PE kits, costumes for dress up days etc are clean and available when needed
Making doctors and dentist appointments because they need doing and not because someone else has asked you to do it in order to take some of the mental load off them

Anything else? I want to make sure these special ladies get the full woman experience.

I had to go into a charity premises the other day for a disability access thing, and in the setup before the session I was asked my pronouns. Fortunately they caught me on a day when I had no fucks left to give, so I said "sex-based, like my oppression". People don't tend to argue with bolshy old women in wheelchairs and there was no pronoun round in the introduction of the session.

At first the comments were supportive because "yay! trans people", until people started pointing out the issue with girls having to wash bloody hands/empty menstrual cups in a publicly monitored mixed sex area. It's not much but as the commenters on NAR tend to be flags in bios people, it was heartening that there was a pushback at all.

I recently watched a video by Menno, where he mentioned that - as a very young, gay man - he sought out the company of other gay men to socialise with as he navigated the world as a gay adult.

That lead me to think of all the times most of us (men and women) seek out the company of a particular group. It may be a hobby or an interest we have, or we may want to hang out with our own age group. It doesn't necessarily involve anything private, nor are we asking for advice. We simply want to spend a couple of hours with other people that we have something in common with.

And in order to create such a group, we are excluding all the people who don't share our interest or are the wrong age etc. Being excluded is part of life. (Of course, I'm not talking about being excluded because of disability or race - that's unacceptable).

Most of us wouldn't want to muscle in on a group that we have no interest in or connection to. We're very unlikely to be able to contribute anything meaningful to discussions and would probably find the whole experience tedious and boring.

If we then consider support groups, again the majority of people are excluded from each one as the focus is on one aspect of life. And again, most people don't want to muscle into a support group that they're excluded from.

Even as a woman (you know, the XX type) I wouldn't expect to access all women groups. I'm older, so wouldn't try to join a group for breastfeeding, or young mothers for example. And if I turned up at such a group by mistake, I'd apologise and leave - not be offended at being "excluded" or insist on remaining.

The conclusion I came to is that every person who lives in a community moves in and out of groups throughout their life and at the same time is also excluded from other groups. TIMs being excluded from women-only groups is simply part of this cycle.

Why is it always TIMs pushing in where they're not wanted? Why don't we hear of TIFs trying to muscle in to male groups to discuss - say - prostate problems? (We all know the answer ).

Must go, I need to check to see if I'm in the winners list for an art competition I entered. It was for ages 5 - 8 years so I stand a good chance.

Another typical liberal so-called progressive man being called out by JK Rowling: John Oliver decided to insert himself in the trans women in sport debate by claiming that there are vanishingly few trans girls competing in sports and even if they are, there is no evidence that trans athletes 'post any threat to safety or fairness'.

JK Rowling must be weary of having to fact-check these idiots but as usual, she does so succinctly and articulately as she wonders at these people effectively saying with a straight-face that there isn't enough evidence to show that men and boys are stronger and faster than women and girls.

It seems these liberal types have learnt nothing from the US election. The most effective ad for Trump showed Harris talking about the importance of trans rights and saying that she supported prisoners being given gender-affirming care in prison. The pay-off for the ad was 'Harris is for they/them, President Trump is for you'. Oliver still doesn't get it and makes himself look foolish by pretending that there's nothing wrong with biological men competing against women and taking their prizes. It is no longer a 'vanishingly small' number of trans athletes competing in women's sport, and even if it was only one, it would be one too many.

Just the very fact that so many straight 'progressive' wokebros feel the need to insert themselves into the trans conversation, tells you that it's a men's rights issue, ultimately. I mean, you never see Jon Oliver/Owen Jones/Alistair Campbell opining on the issues of access to gynaecological care or the gender pay gap do you.

It's also deeply patronising, and very, VERY patriarchal the way they just assume their lofty pronouncements will be welcomed, like "Oh look at all you skilly womens, getting all het up and hysterical about issues you don't truly understand. Take heart, for I, Man, have come to enlighten you out of my manly benevolence and wisdom!"

Let’s be honest, it’s women who do the bulk of Christmas preparations. Boots is a shop that by the nature of its products will have a high percentage of female customers. Yet, even now, Boots is having to replace women with men. I HATE drag! Drag queens always remind me of clowns ( and I hate those ugly buggers too). Grotesque, over the top, and hiding behind make up. It feels more gender ideology propaganda than a Christmas advent. Boots can fuck off.

They have officially lost a customer with me. Tesco's have too, I have moved a lot of my shopping over to an Irish based company (Dunnes, the foods better anyway). I have the power to change where my whole household buys their groceries, why? because I'm a fucking woman and I run the household.

These companies are so fucking stupid.

Someone I know said their daughter works for a charity where a woman who works there identifies as a they/them.
Apparently the daughter accidentally said 'she' in a meeting when referring to this person (when the they/them wasn't present). She then got a pile on from colleagues for misgendering
I said that they were using self righteousness to disguise their bullying of the daughter. There's no need to behave like that towards a colleague for a simple mistake.
Charities seem to be full of these people bullying everyone. What a terrible industry to work in
The daughter is apparently looking for another job now.
