Something upbeat for the beginning of a new thread!
I was out and about in a shopping centre last weekend when my son pulled me aside and told me a woman had just walked past him wearing a t-shirt with the definition of a woman on it. I got him to point her out to me then plucked up the courage to approach this total stranger and told her I liked her shirt. We got talking and she told me she’d reached a point where she doesn’t care who knows her views and said she often attended the LWS events. We ended up swapping Xitter details and now follow each other and have dm’d a couple of times. It was so refreshing to meet a fellow gender-critic in the wild!

Need to vent and clear my head if you will indulge me. I just don't know how much more I can bear to read! So this week we hear that yet another rich and powerful man Al-Fayed was a disgusting sexual predator. And it was an open secret. Who knew eh? And the bravest woman in the world right now Giselle Pelicourt is being challenged in court that maybe she was pretending to be unconscious so multiple men could rape her. I just don't even know how to process this despicable misogyny and utter contempt for women. I go to bed angry, I wake up angry. I'm irritable with my husband, who is a really good decent man because he just doesn't get it. His suggestion that I should try not to think about it if it upsets me so much made me want to howl! Maybe that's what the civil rights movement should have done eh? Just don't think about it if it upsets you or if you're white and not impacted by racism? If a man like my husband can think like that then what about the bad men? I feel so hopeless and helpless. I'm not a young woman, I've lived through the misogynist's golden age the 1970s, knowing my mother couldn't have a bank account without my dad's consent. I don't know what I'm expecting in response to my post, I guess this feels like my only safe space. Thanks for reading.

I'm almost 60 years old, and consider myself to be extremely fortunate to live in an age of such technological wonders as the automatic washing machine, the mobile phone and the aeroplane.
At the swipe of a finger, I can access actual images of a black hole, a planetary system around another star, or the surface of Venus. I know what the weather on Mars is like on any given day (cold!) I can video call my friends in Cornwall, or Germany, or Australia at will. I am protected against many killer diseases, and I have a much smaller chance of dying in childbirth than at any other time in history. I can vote, own property or a business, I am free to marry whomever I like.

So why is it that in this enlightened age, the definition of a woman is suddenly a "controversial issue"? Even at the dawn of mankind, primitive humans knew full well what a woman was. There hasn't been a single civilisation on Earth, at any point in history, which has grappled with the biological fact of binary sex, until now. It's interesting that this nonsense has coincided with the rise of women's equal rights being enshrined in law. Now that we have female MP's, doctors, pilots, CEO's, now that we support women to live, work and raise a family without men if they wish, now that women have a voice loud enough to finally be heard...along come the bruisers in dresses to shut us up.

I can't believe that there has to be a High Court sitting to enable a panel of judges to decide whether transvestites should be counted as women if they're on the board of a company/public body, under the guise of "gender equality"...it's absolutely laughable really. It's like me insisting that my granddaughter be included in the Royal Family line of succession, just because she's wearing a princess dress and a crown!

I had no idea this thread existed and have always been so confused as to how it’s even legal - every other ‘protected’ category eg disability, race, religion- you aren’t allowed to identify as and dress up as that and just make people accept it. If I just taped my eyes back and said I’m Asian now so everyone must agree I’d be considered racist, but a man can just wake up and be a female or vice versa?? How is gender, which is included in that category, not held to the same regard. I can’t just wake up and decide I’m unable to walk so I identify as disabled and now should be able to use all disabled access. It’s fucking absurd and I’m so over it !!!!

Most women don’t even know what being a woman is until they get so much older, 50’s plus because we’re constantly changing so how can a man know he feels like he’s a woman. What does that feel like?? They can never give an answer. Or a woman feel like a boy. How do boys feel?? What makes a boy feel like a boy? Idiots the lot of them

I work in maternity, and my boss, during a conversation about an upcoming antenatal class, mentioned that our printed material will now include the term "birthing people" to ensure that we're being "inclusive". To be fair, she did roll her eyes as she said it, and she didn't disagree when I noted that everyone in our department knows full well that only women give birth.
We've also just booked a (pregnant) woman who stated that she identifies as NB. Honestly? No-one cares. It won't make a jot of difference to her care, we still refer to her as "she" when we're talking about her, not to be terfy, but just because we really don't have the time or energy to try to remember someone's pronouns. She's no more special than any of our patients but what she does have in common with them all, is that she's a female human. They're the only ones that we treat, no matter how they identify

With absolutely no disrespect to the person who raised the point very eloquently, there is absolutely no correlation between the black civil rights movement and 55 year old Nigel deciding he is a girl and changing with young girls in a changing room or Dave the dirty rapist being jailed for rape and then conveniently deciding he's Daphne and being imprisoned with other women and being referred to as a woman when we all know women cannot technically rape as they do not have penises. Genuine gender dysphoria is very, very rare and has been hijacked by a group of over privileged men who get a hard on by wearing tights and a padded bra.

Article in the Telegraph about the five Darlington nurses who complained about a TIM in their changing room. It’s unbelievable how they’ve been treated by their Trust, being forced to change in a pokey ward office because they felt intimidated using the women’s changing room, whereas the TIM has free rein.

the trust’s workforce director wrote to each nurse, cautioning them against making any further allegations against the hospital or its staff “on any media platforms” and warning that their “behaviour” could lead to disciplinary action. The letter also warned: “Any behaviour, including that outside of work, that is considered inappropriate or disrespectful and/or which is directed towards another employee will not be tolerated and will be investigated appropriately under the trust’s disciplinary policy.”

How can it be acceptable to treat women like this? Complete DARVO by the Trust.

I thought the reason that nurses change at work was for infection control, to reduce the risk of contamination that might happen if they travelled to work in their uniform. So how is it acceptable to provide a room that doesn't have adequate provision for this? Leaving their own clothes and possessions on the floor? It's as if nothing can be allowed to stand in the way of allowing a man to enter the women's changing room - not even hygiene within a hospital of all places!

I'm sure we asked this before, but does the men's changing room have a similar sign on the door?

I am so angry on behalf of these nurses!

Registered my pregnancy recently via badger notes and had to do the usual booking in questionnaire. Which this time included questions like what is my gender (included various options) are you the same gender as you were assigned at birth. Then on to the father’s part - what gender is the biological father etc.
What the fuck? Woman’s maternity care should not be pandering to this nonsense. Of course I’m a biological woman, of course the biological father is a man!!
This is my 5th pregnancy and 3rd registered with badger notes and it definitely wasn’t like this before. Absolute madness

I have outed myself as a terf to the school. PSE was a lesson today regarding gender ideology and all that jazz. My 13 year old pointed out that whilst discussions around feelings are important in PSE, gender is not something you can feel or change so what the teacher was talking about made no sense to her. Apparently, my daughters class need to learn about this in order to "be a kind ally". I sent them an email stating that I do not wish her to be taught any lessons around gender identity or ideology and that as an institution that educates I think its important that children are taught the same thing across the board........in biology there are two sexes but in PSE - anything goes!
My daughter did say that most of kids think its a joke and found it all highly amusing but I worry about the ones that are more easily led by all this.
Also, got banned from a reddit trans forum today for saying I'm an "actual woman" - I'm so offensive!

I saw some random parent posting on Threads the other day, saying how they want their child to experience reading Harry Potter but they don't want to give THAT author any money so they were asking advice on how to get the content for free. People were suggesting buying second hand so that the money goes to charity etc.

But I have seen this mentality a lot, they apparently hate JKR and what she says sooooooooo much but of all the books out there they are bending over backwards to still find a way to read JKR's intellectual property ‍. They hate her but they can't do without reading their precious Professor Snape, Dumbledore, etc

And I bet when the TV reboot comes out they will make a fuss but secretly watch it in their pyjamas, snuggled in a blanket, whispering the spells to themselves. They'll say they are hate-watching but really they can't do without it.

Is it that we are simply in a very similar situation now with trans people? Both of us couldn't come to any kind of definitive answer and I wonder if anyone on here has heard a similar line of thinking and has any thoughts on it. I really don't mean this as any kind of argument, I just have had it on my mind for a few days and have been trying to think it through.

The thing about trans ideology is that it demands an oppressed group (women) give up the single sex spaces they’ve spent decades securing due to reasons of safety and dignity to appease the feelings of men. They are not fighting for equality, but to ride roughshod over the freedom’s we fought for (the freedom to get changed in a changing room knowing that there will not be any males present). The other oppressed groups you mention - gay people and black people - have simply wanted the same legal rights as their heterosexual / white counterparts. Achieving these rights has not oppressed another group whereas trans ideology takes freedom and safety away from women. Every day you read in the news (plenty of citations on these threads) of a man who says he’s ‘trans’ infiltrating women’s spaces and later being found out to be a pervert.

Also what is a ‘trans’ person? No one who purports to be trans has any experience of what it is to be a member of the opposite sex. They rely on regressive stereotypes where women are reduced to dresses, make-up and high heels and act in a certain way. Personally, I don’t care how people want to dress, but I do not want any males in designated women’s spaces.

And why do they want access to our spaces? At best it’s to validate themselves and at worst…? I’m mutuals with a few males who say they are trans on Twitter and all of these respect women and continue to use the facilities designated for their sex because they understand that the presence of a biological man in a woman’s space can be threatening and intimidating.

Had a good morning, i was at a department store (yes some still do exist!) Off to lingerie section and saw a man accidentally head to the fitting room, assistant standing by told him it's for lingerie only (and he went off to the men's area) We ended up chatting and gingerly speaking of women only changing rooms. Once she gauged I was GC, she was spoke freely about women's safe spaces, the Olympics - I loved it! Power to us, speak and be heard

I don’t really understand why any same sex attracted people go along with this tbh. Would Sandy Toksvig be happy to be in a relationship with an intact TIM? I don’t know much about her, I’ve never liked her to be honest but I’m guessing she’s saying all this from being in a long term relationship where it’s not going to affect her at all.I also hate women putting forward the toilet argument. Trigger warning. This situation is sad and horrible, but I think that it's important for the people who believe in self-ID and TWAW to really see what it is that they're supporting. This is from Washington State:

Christopher Williams was arrested but never charged after he molested his sister when she was 6 and he was 13, instead he went to a live-in "counseling center" (whatever that is) for almost 3 years. Once he returned home, he molested his sister again when she was 9 and he was 16. (He was convicted but it's unclear from the news article if he served any time.)Then in 2012 when he was 22, he beat his gf with a pipe and was sentenced to 28.5 years in prison. Once he was in prison, he beat a male guard with his fists and elbows until the guard was unconcious. Afterwards, he said that the only reason that he stopped beating him was because the guard was making "death screams." The guard needed emergency reconstructive surgery to save his nose. (The news article doesn't state how much time he was sentenced to for the attack on the guard.) At some point, after he beat the guard, but before the pandemic, he identified as a woman and was transferred to the women's prison. After he'd been there for a while, he made a request to replace his cell mate with Mozzy Clark-Sanchez and his request was granted.

Clark-Sanchez was raped by her uncle starting when she was 5. Her mother prostituted her to men for drugs and routinely left her with her uncle even though she knew that he was abusing her. She was eventually removed from her mother's care by Child Protective Services and as an adult was imprisoned for a crime that isn't mentioned in the article.

Once Clark-Sanchez was moved to Williams' cell, he immediately began harrassing, intimidating, threatening, and assaulting her. One time she was sleeping and woke up to find that he had pulled up her shirt to expose her breasts and she believes that he had been touching her. Another time she woke up to him with his hand in her pants under the blanket. Several times she woke up to him sitting next to her on her bed. One time he brought a homemade, strap-on dildo into their cell and told her to use it on him. He often peered over the partition at her and other women when they were showering and going to the bathroom. He has threatened her verbally and made lewd and creepy comments to her.

In 2022, Clark-Sanchez filed a Prison Rape Elimination Act case against him that was eventually referred to the state police and is currently being investigated by them. Prison officials told her that her charges against him were substantiated so for that reason he was moved to a cell built for one person. After he was moved, he started following her everywhere and glaring at her. He goes out of his way to cross her path and blocks her exit when he feels like it.

This man would've never been in a women's prison if not for the trans movement. I can't stop thinking about the stress, fear, and torment that this woman was going through day after day and night after night. But the TWAW crowd just bleats #bekind and looks away. I can't even imagine trying to sleep even one night locked in the same cell with this evil, perverted, dangerous man, and she had to do it night after night, year after year. She couldn't shower in peace, she couldn't sleep in peace, she couldn't use the toilet in peace, she couldn't even walk around in peace because the wants of this violent and disgusting man were prioritized over her safety, privacy, and mental health.

If anyone listens to "Two Poofs and a Podcast" - it seems that Scotland is no longer going to treat trans-identifying rapists as women (starts at 10.30). Chief Constable has said "You can only commit the crime of rape if you are a man" and will be recorded as MEN.

No more of this "treating as they present" shyte.
