It is lesbian visibility week next week.

Quick - have an event hosted by a heterosexual man who has been married to his wife for 25 years (hmmm I didn't know gay marriage was legal in 1997) about what being a lesbian means to him.

If I travelled back in time just a few years and told people that in 2022 ‘Lesbian Visibility Week’ would feature a heterosexual man who had been married to a woman for a quarter of a century, not a single person would think I was sane. 🙄

At least the comments are heartening.

I really liked this reply.

Sums it up for me
its all fine though he has a dress and some lippy as well as a long suffering wife who I am pretty sure is surprised she is classed as a lesbian now having never been with a woman. They also have a history of getting feminists events cancelled...one lead to Julie Bindel having to get security to rescue her from a mob. They also got the university to examine CCTV to find out who was putting stickers up. Stickers found around the university cited the definition of a woman as an “adult human female” and included phrases such as, “women’s sex based rights are not for penises.” They also reported the rector for retweeting this event "How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act [GRA] affect women’s rights?”

Utter nonsense that a guy is claiming he is a lesbian

Saw this and thought it would fit with this topic and the TRAs attitude to people reading what JKR wrote.

Comment on that Twitter thread: “Just be patient, they’re getting too greedy and it’s unsustainable.”

I’ve been thinking this same way for a while now. With things like ‘middle-aged heterosexual married man in a bad wig = lesbian visibility, yay!’, and Lia Thomas & the rest of the sporting shitshow, the TRAs are soon going to be hoist with their own petard.

Even Labour are reverse-ferreting like duck now because majority public opinion is becoming clear (as noted, and capitalised on, by those advising BJ).

Thus far the sports involved haven’t primarily been the major televised events that most people watch at home: something like a TW to entering the womens draw at Wimbledon and getting into the second week (if not further) would be an absolute gift in terms of the amount of people it would peak (or simply alert to the issue in the first place), and the ensuing debate it would provoke.

I agree. The tories advisors are on the ball with this, or maybe it's just Labour's advisors are so out of touch it beggars belief.

I think part of the problem is Labour don't want to alienate the woke who absolutely love them and their policies.

The amount of people who I have seen on Instagram/tiktok etc sharing things that Tories have said about TRAs and sex/gender saying it is further proof about how out of touch the tories are and how they are all transpohobic/racist/homophobic.

Just had a one on one convo with another woman in my team. We are being made to move building for our office next week and I mentioned I might go scope the building out, and asked she know if there were female toilets there (some buildings at the place I work have gender neutral ones 🤢) so I wasn't sure. We ended up discussing gender ideology and she understands my feminist stand but she also believe s in helping those who want to go into the opposite toilets to not hurt their feelings. Anyway, I told her about my concern about women and girls, and alarming amount of girls cutting breasts off/ social contagion (we were talking about social media etc). She listened and then said she couldn't understand why so many people have boob jobs and can't just accept themselves and their bodies. But she just didn't get the point then that on the other hand that girls therefore shouldn't be lopping breasts off, they should accept their body. She won't shop me to anyone though as it was a one on one convo and we actually know each other outside of work from mutual friends. I wouldn't have dared to have the same convo with anyone else in the team. She did agree that JKR is correct however but my colleague is very much a #BeKind person so she still wants to help the T. So, she's confused.

Edit to add: The conversation ended fine, but why do I still feel like a guilty witch for going against the grain? I 100% know I am right to be concerned about women's rights and safety of children, but I am socialised since childhood to be the goody two shoes acquiesing woman and it's taking so long to unpick. I feel a little braver each day but sometimes the feelings of guilt stab in the gut. This is why this ideology is so prevalent, it relies on people self censuring themselves, it plays upon the ego and emotions. I must fight this.

Women's kindness and tolerance has been used against them and exploited as a weakness....

I'm all for acceptance , but not when it rides roughshod over other people's thoughts, opinions and openness and acceptance. You are right, it is exploiting and aggressive & it's wrong.

Oh my word, check out this clip and the cliched arguments coming from Amy Nickell. I have no idea who she is and who briefed her to be such a TRA mouthpiece:

Trans women in sport? No big deal, there aren’t many!
High trans suicide rates!
Puberty blockers are fully reversible!

Women's kindness and tolerance has been used against them and exploited as a weakness....
Not only that, but we are socialised this way. And partly it’s pure self preservation isn’t it? Don’t make a man too angry, he might want to hurt you.

bleeping hole that blonde woman - I apologise as I try not to call people names. She is a complete and utter idiot and I sincerely hope she is being called out on this online. First time I have come across her and I can see that she is tweeting some of the same nonsense that she stated there.

Lol what she said is just nonsensical and nothing to do with the actual point. Gay men have no inherent biological advantage over straight men. Lesbians have no inherent biological advantage over straight women. That's the point.

TRAs have this tactic of speaking the most nonsensical crap and getting you to react to what they say, therefore, deflecting from the actual root of what is being spoken about.

It’s pure DARVO isn’t it? Quickly deflect the topic away from unfairness to women in sport, and focus on how sad and oppressed trans people are, you’re all nasty bigots etc.

I just want to know why someone like Amy Nickell, who has no skin in the game (as a “cis” woman) is so vehemently on the TRA side. Who brainwashed her?

It won't let me link to the site here but I just searched and got 41,806 fundraisers

A lot of them have zero facial hair, so it just seems like it might be mastectomies even before testosterone for some.
