That was me! Initially I was confused as I thought Jamie's daughter was transitioning to a man as I couldn't find anything online about Jamie having a son. I had to dig deep to find that Ruby was actually Thomas before. But like you say, almost all evidence of the person before is erased. They say you shouldn't be "dead naming" them. Even Caitlyn Jenner still talks about Bruce and refers to that time as being Bruce.Someone on the previous thread mentioned Jamie Lee Curtis's child changing gender. While I agree that Ruby is an adult and transitioning at 25 is very different from wanting to do it at 15 or 10 or 5, it did strike me how quickly every reference to their previous name and identity have been hastily changed online. We're not supposed to acknowledge that things were ever different. Even trans people get criticised for it! (I've seen criticism of Buck Angel for saying "I am a man who was born a woman", and of a transgender Japanese artist who released an autobiographical comic about their transition titled The Bride Was a Boy - even though it is the term this person chose to describe themselves)

Ugh just saw that. How misguided can you be?watching question time... questions about gender based violence. I woman in the audience says "but we need to remember it is also men who are abused by women"......
reminded me why i don;t watch now, so annoyed I will never sleep. ffsUgh just saw that. How misguided can you be?
I get fed up of hearing what about the bleeping menz. Why can nothing just be about women. Even when we're the ones getting bleeping killed by men, we can't forget the men.watching question time... questions about gender based violence. I wish I could be in the audience one day to just interject "but what about the cats?"I get fed up of hearing what about the bleeping menz. Why can nothing just be about women. Even when we're the ones getting bleeping killed by men, we can't forget the men.
When I was young and liberal and naive (lol) I didn't think I'd be fussed if I had a child that came out as trans.... Now my mind is changed. It would be horrifying and I would need A LOT of therapy. It is a big trauma for parents I imagine. I recall when Caitlynn Jenner came out as trans, Kris Jenner broke down and said it was like the person she had known for however many years had died, she was grieving for Bruce. I mean, with a trans kid nowadays it must really be like that as they don't want any acknowledgement of the person they were before. How tragic. The difference is, Bruce hasn't been erased...you can still find info and pics about him online.I was reading an article about Jamie Lee Curtis and her trans gender daughter. I really like and admire her and think she’s dealing with it the best way she can. It must be baffling and heartbreaking to be the parent of a trans kid. She’s had a son for 25 years then everything about them changes. Makes me so sad.
It's very 1984 with the changing of historical documents to reflect falsehood. The speed to change the names and everything is shocking. With Ellen/Elliot Page it was the same. Name changed on every movie and website in a few hours.
If only they were so fast deleting rape videos from porn websites and things like that...
Its so good it gave me the rage. This is a superb blog post by Dr Jessica Taylor about the "but what about men" brigade:
