Life isn't like a film or novel is it, people don't always behave in rational ways, there's not always a clear explanation for their actions, but equally there's not always a sinister mystery behind it.
I think it's an element of fear of the fragility of life that causes these conspiracy type posts; no one wants to believe that (as in Nicola Bulley's case) you could just slip and fall into the river and drown while on a morning dog walk, such a random accident that could have happened to anyone. Or as presumably in Gaynor's case that someone appearing as happy and without any obvious concerns or issues might decide for whatever reason that they didn't want to continue living. So it's easier to think that someone else was to blame, someone else caused it rather than it just happened

Oh the poor sweetheart, and just before Christmas. What her friend who missed the call must be feeling. Does anyone know how old her children are?

Why does everything have to be suspicious? It’s like they want there to be foul play.

Another poor woman missing
A MAJOR search is underway for a missing woman as specialist teams have been scouring a river.
Clare Marshall, 64, vanished in Perth this morning and has not been seen since.

I dread these news stories as they rarely, if ever, have a happy ending. This one was particularly affecting as you could see her as a living, breathing, apparently normal human being shortly before her life ended. So very sad.
I experienced something similar 20 years ago. I never considered water but appreciate that we are all different. I used vodka and prescription drugs but fortunately survived. I was lucky enough that my employer paid for private insurance so was able to get the support I needed when I needed it long term. I was also sufficiently financially able to afford supplementary help which get me through it all. What I remember is that you need a lot of support and you need it there and then.
Sadly my wife went suffered mental health issues a couple of years back after working in two different jobs where she was bullied by her superiors. It took a while before she admitted to having suicidal feelings and we approached the NHS for support as we couldn’t afford private support. The doctor was excellent but the waiting list was so long that my wife had to wait to see anyone. There was no dedicated point of contact so the process felt impersonal and her therapy treatments were sporadic and infrequent. We got the impression that people were doing the best they could but were swamped.
Fortunately through the support of family and friends and a new job in which her bosses are supportive and decent people, my wife is now in a much better place. What worries me specifically is that the public system is so overloaded that doctors rely so much on meds. My wife has been on antidepressants for years. They just use this “crutch” because they don’t have the resources to deal effectively with the underlying causes.
If anyone here is struggling, please speak to someone today. A loved one, a friend, a workmate, the Samaritans, anyone. Don’t leave it too late because there comes a time where you get into a very different mindset where rationality goes out of the window and there only seems to be one way out.
We feel bad because we feel weak. We are not weak, we have carried on when many would have said enough is enough and we reach a point where, for us, enough really is enough.
It is an old cliche but where there is life there is hope. I can attest to that.
