Hiya! I’m just wondering if anyone has completed the AAT foundation course for accountancy. I have been offered the opportunity to complete this with the possibility to undertake level 3 & 4 afterwards through my employer.
Now, I’m not thick but maths does not come easily to me! I am worried that I will start something off and then flounder at the first hurdle!
I am just curious if anyone has done it and how they found it!

Hello!
I am currently doing my ACCA level 4, I did do my AAT level 2 and switched to ACCA as the college I was at stopped offering AAT. I can say the level 2 was a lot less maths than you’d think and you have a calculator in every exam. One of the modules was purely Sage software which I hadn’t used it at all before in my workplace and it was really easy to pick up. The other modules were fairly straightforward, I would recommend just lots of practice with questions and using the mock exams on the website leading up to your exams, I found them really helpful. If you have any specific questions I could help with though I’d be happy to answer 😊

@Millie_Moo Thank you so much!!! I’m using sage at the minute in a very limited capacity already! Our accountant who wants me to do this seems to have every confidence in me for some reason! I suppose the only thing holding me back is me and if I can have a calculator with me then there really is no reason why I can’t!

Hi 👋 I’m not very good mathematically at all but I passed my AAT. If you’re a logical thinker it will all come quite naturally to you.

Oh if you’re already familiar you’ll be great, I’d never used it before and managed it so you already have a head start! If your accountant is pushing you for it then go for it, they wouldn’t push you if they didn’t think you were capable 😊 hope you enjoy your course and good luck!

CIMA qualified after doing my AAT. honestly it's not really about maths at all!. Its the concepts of accounting. My advice is to go for it! It was worth every minute I spent doing it!
