These two are a psychologist wet dream. They very very clearly have HUGE mental health issues most probably resulting from a child with an autism diagnosis and never been able to mentally deal with it, which lead to a food obsession to surpress emotions. They will never lose weight until they have therapy for the reason why they have a food problem. They eat crap coz it temporarily gives them a high, just like alcohol. So until they get councilling and help there is absolutely no hope. The sad thing is they have used food to try and control Abbie because thats all they know. X
I think their mental health issues started before they even got together. Can't blame Abigail for that. Ps food addiction and obsession (eating disorder) started when she was young. Her mother treats food as love. That is were it was learned. Likely something that goes back generations. Even narcissism develops at a young age.
Honestly most mental health diagnosis start before adulthood or are things a person are born with. Or at least the pattern of behaviour.
There is PTSD that could be present (and other trauma disorders) that may have been caused by their situation with Abigail. It seems likely to a degree. But even then how that trauma response affects them could be an effect of preexisting disorders also.
Not a doctor but I have experience, in myself and those close to me, with the world of mental health.
But they do for sure need mental health help. I don't think much could help Ass because he would never allow it. He wouldn't accept he is not right and that something about HIM is a problem. Narcissists tend to stay that way even if they are in treatment. P though would benefit a lot if she allowed it and seperated that help from her husband (who would likely sabotage any progress.) It wouldn't happen overnight and would be work. But a good chunk of the things people see manifesting in her are things she could/should be able to get help with.
