Hi guys,

I have fairly pale skin (lucky me) and like to use a gradual tanner. It usually works pretty fine but I just want some advice on tanning my hands!!

this is always the area where it looks so obvious that its fake tan. I’m wondering if i moisturise my hands a little bit before I tan it will help?

I would definitely moisturise your hands beforehand and you can always use a make up brush to apply the product so it's streak free.

I exfoliate my hands/body and give it a good ol moisturise 8-12 hrs before applying the fake tan , sometimes using baby oil instead and that seems to work!
I also don’t add much extra tan to the mitt when doing my hands, I use whatever is left over from doing my body so it’s a bit more natural

Moisturise, mix the tan in with some moisturizer & apply with a sponge. I start in the centre & work my way out. Skim over the knuckles. Gently rub off tan on any dry areas or add more moisturizer. Best to just do a little on the hands, you can always add.
**I use a beauty blender but any makeup sponge will do

Moisturise ur hands / wrists/ knees / ankles and elbows before applying to the body to let the moisturiser soak in.
Always leave ur hands to last, (same with ur feet after u do both ur legs)
U will have excess on ur mitt and skim it over ur hands, don’t add more to the mitt as it will darken ur hands ur best using the left over product or wetness from the mitt

if u do ever have that mistake of having ur hands too dark - a mixture of lemon juice, sugar and baby oil lightens the tan, this also works if After a few days ur skin goes that tiger loaf way and patchy - takes the tan off amazing.

I always put Vaseline in between my fingers and a touch on my knuckles to stop the tan getting darker on those drier spots.

Thanks everyone for your replies!!

I think I need to drench my hands in moisturiser, they are so dry that’s probably the problem! (Extra hand washing doesn’t help 😫)

I used st tropez mousse gradual tanner and with only one coat it looks good! I’m very pale so just the one application actually makes a difference 😅 my hands aren’t too terrible this time round either

Sorry to jump on this thread. What fake tan would you recommend. Is the Luxe brand all its cracked up to be?

It’s trying to find a foundation that matches my fake tan that I struggle with.
I should probably just give up tanning as I’m pale and have the odd freckle, but I feel better with a bit of colour. I’ve finally found a foundation that is golden as opposed to pink tones. But even with bronzer, it’s still 🥴

You can get drops to add to your normal foundation to make them darker if that helps at all. Like squeeze some foundation on your hand and add a couple of drops in maybe

I use bondi sands mousse. I’m quite pale so the light/medium one is perfect for me.

I’ll have a look into that!!
I use Fake tan especially for my face which give me colour but then it’s pointless when I put my foundation on as it hides the colour 😂

Bondi sands gold is amazing, colour is natural looking and it removes easy as well..

Utan for the face that’s more expensive but I use that every 3 days and surprised it’s actually kept my skin clear

Reviving this thread with a fake tan SOS-
Havnt tanned in ages- I was half asleep applying bondi sands last night (have a party tomorrow). I forgot to moisturise my knees and they’re soooo dark after I showered this morning!
Any tips or tricks to get rid of it fast?? 🙏🏻

Bondi Sands do a tan eraser, you could try putting that on and leaving it on for longer than it says and try take some off with a damp cloth?

Try the tan eraser and then just exfoliating it, I’m sure I’ve read lemon juice works as well?!
Failing that just tan everywhere else apart from your knees so you match 🤣
