OH. MY. GOD. What a bloody race to be at!!

We were so fortunate all day. Got kinda cold watching F3/F2 but had tickets to go in the museum after those races and lo and behold we managed to be in the museum during the very worst of the rain, only got a little bit rained on queuing for the loo ahead of the race.

That race had everything....overtakes, double stacking in the pits, weather, strategy calls.... apparently I was too focused on other things to consider pressing the Logan button

Was soooooo tense counting down the last 10 laps, especially when Max overtook Lando and then the last few laps everyone was screaming for Lewis. After all this time since AD 2021, for Silverstone to be the race Lewis won after so long, you couldn't have written a better script. If I'd been at home watching I probably would also have cried like Lewis himself, but I was too tense and then too excited screaming my head off! Amazing scenes. The hug with his dad, Bono being the one to go on the podium with him. Absolutely delighted. Mama Knit was sad for her Georgie having to retire - from reading back this thread it sounds that was a surprise for TV watching folks too. Sad that McLaren muffed up strategy for Lando and Oscar as I would have been happy for either of them to have won, but the stars said today was Lewis's day

Just listening to the Sky podcast and they were singing the praises of how Silverstone is now like a four day festival and how wonderful it is for everyone and there were people there not even that fussed about watching the racing......I do sometime feel like I'm going mad! I'd much rather there was only the racing going on and people who like the actual fracking cars going fast could afford to go but maybe its just me

I'm all for having stuff on for when there is no on track action, especially at somewhere like Silverstone when so many camp. But to say people going don't care about racing is insane. And if making it more affordable can be done by not having Martin Garrix or Will.I.Am or whoever doing a DJ set then it seems a no brainer

I think celebs have always been about at Silverstone but now the Hilton has opened opposite the pits there is more space/scope for inviting influencers. They didn’t seem to have full paddock passes and access to the grid like the “proper” celebs.
The other reason it’s more obvious now is they document everything on their own SM which is much more effective than a few years ago they were just papped arriving or about the place and those photos had to break into the online newspapers for some recognition.

Who are they complaining about attending? Asking despite knowing I’ll not have any idea who they are

I think the part of it that confuses me is who are they trying to market to, especially stuff like the Hilton hotel at the track. Like, there is no chance of anyone who isn't a driver/F1 higher up or celeb getting a room at that hotel on F1 weekend, so it's just advertising something totally unattainable?? Same with celebs getting expensive clothing/bags etc for free...most of the people following them cannot afford to buy that stuff so again, who are you advertising to?

Well I brought home an extra gift from Silverstone which is the gift of Covid. So I am drinking all the lemsip and hoping it stays fairly mild

Now come on Carlos why have you not made your bloody mind up yet which team you are driving for next year!
