Elton John donated piano livestream in St Pancras station - Brendan Kavanagh vs Chinese media employees

Video should start playing at the right spot. Worth watching the whole thing including when the guy starts screaming and how the london police deal with it.

I wonder if Sir Elton will comment on it? The piano is now fenced off with people watching so no one plays it.

Presumably the Chinese people work for the state?

He seems like such a knob. She came over and explained and he should have just alright and kept it moving. You can see he loves the drama and fuss of it all and could see the £££ in eyes for getting in on video. Idk who he is

No one can expect privacy in a public place, so if you're out and you see someone with a camera, then it's best to move away if you don't want to be filmed. Besides, people often film others playing the piano, so it seems reasonable to expect you might be caught on camera if you hang around a public piano as it's being played.

That said, the live streamer could have easily defused the situation by calmly explaining he was being filmed playing the piano and to move on if they had a problem. If he'd then just carried on playing the piano and ignored any further comments from that group, they'd have quickly moved on.

I've seen her side of it. He comes across badly.

He mocked their flag and also called them Japanese twice after he knew they were Chinese.

That's good to see her post, and the twitter community notes to correct parts of it.

No one comes out of it well, but I think the screaming guy is the worst. He jumps straight to accusing the guy of touching her and if there wasn't the video he'd probably be under investigation for sexual assault. He's been tracked as working for the FT and UCL. I checked his insta and he didn't try to explain it at all and just said there were negative opinions about him that he disagrees with.

Still not sure why the went on about their non disclosure agreement with a Chinese state media meaning he should delete his footage or that they had image rights and would take legal action if he didn't delete. Kinda the expected result when two standoff-ishy people come against each other. Disingenuous of them to be talking about doing stuff for free when they've been linked to working for for Chinese propaganda organisations.

I agree, I don’t think anyone came out of that well but on the dick scale I think the pianist tips it further.

Why do the police stick up for the Chinese, the police woman’s argument is non- sensical

From what I can tell, those who were angry at being filmed approached the Police and - if the shouty guy had spoken to them first - I wouldn't be surprised if he'd said the pianist was being racist and tried to touch his friend. Then when the Police approached the piano guy he was quite defensive and abrupt with them, which might explain why the Police reacted the way they did.

I think it was partly brought about by poor communication. The first lady seemed to be saying their NDA applied to the pianist, when it obviously didn't, and that's why he got angry.

1) Police officer incorrectly applies PACE and has no understanding of the law. It’s also concerning she immediately sides with the group and tells him to turn off his camera - something she has no right to do
2) If you’re in public you have no right to an expectation of privacy. The station is privately owned but it remains a public place so its up to the owners to set out filming rules
3) His playing is great but it upsets me how he’s bashing away at the piano because that damages the instrument
4) Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s been engineered to cause a minor diplomatic incident. Happens more than we realise
5) Nobody comes out of it well but to think that the group are in the right is wild to me

Yep, I think it depends on your personal definition of a dick. Two very different dicks. One goading others and one prepared to invent an assault.

Apparently the piano has now been released from the security tape!

Elton still no comment.

I wouldn't have been so polite and quite frankly told the shouty Chinese guy to F*** off.

I've accidentally photo bombed many people's photos over the years. Have I then demanded to each person that they delete their images because I might feature in them and don't want my face to be seen? No, because being in a public place I expect it to happen.

Also the hypocrisy is laughable, don't want to be filmed, yet are walking around with phones (with recording capability) and video cameras themselves and are obviously filming each other - and other people in the Station.

Are they also going round to each and every person in St Pancras, asking them the same thing?

The Police officers should have reviewed footage, before jumping to the incorrect conclusions of 'racism' and 'assault'.

From my own experiences of dealing with the Police is they often jump to the incorrect conclusions, and don't listen to facts, nor reason.

It is little wonder why many have lost faith in the Police as a whole.

Apparently people are filing privacy complaints against the video. From the emails he's shown they may disable it in 48 hours, while he has to counter.

It's unclear as to who even owns the station as it's a group of funds, I wouldn't be surprised if it's mainly Saudi and Qatari companies

In July 2017, HS1 Ltd was acquired by a consortium comprising of funds advised and managed by InfraRed Capital Partners Limited and Equitix Investment Management Limited.

Some footage of just before the livestream. Shows the Chinese group didn’t seem to have much a problem until their ‘leader’ (screaming guy) showed up.

Brenden did have this on his own channel as well but I can’t find it.

St Pancras is managed by Network Rail on behalf of HS1 Ltd.

It's definitely not a stunt, largely a misunderstanding with chinglish then the newton guy pours petrol on it. The guy they're in conflict with is an influencer so obviously he's going to milk it for all he can.

Someone Mi5 said was conducting "political interference activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party" was also at the original thing in the background. This story really does have it all
