Electricity bills

Since the lockdown I have had to read my own meter which showed far less electric usage and prices than previously. My supplier is SSE and I suspect that the gigantic bill I'll I have recently received is trying to make me pay more than I have used. Can anyone recommend an honest energy supplier,?

When you provide an actual meter reading, SSE will amend your bills based on that reading. The actual bill will replace previous estimates. Are you saying they haven’t used your readings?

On the bill it will give you a breakdown of the useage you are being billed for and the timeframe plus the standing charge etc. Are the readings on the bill accurate against the figures you’ve been providing them?? when did you last provide readings?

Do you pay monthly direct debit? Sometimes they estimate higher winter usage and average it our so you pay the same amount each month.
Can you reduce your monthly payment? I give a meter reading each month. We are with bulb at the minute.

I'm also with SSE and my electricity bill has shot up massively too! It has almost doubled in the last 2 years.

The price of electricity and gas has gone up, do you think this could be the reason? Has your tariff ended? Have you provided readings?

@Dot_Cotton yes they had actually underestimated and I owed more!! My gas has stayed about the same for 6 years. The cost of electricity went up by 10% but I'm paying way more than that. This has prompted me to call them again.

Do you know how long they had underestimated? If it is over 12 months then they would have to remove charges over 12 months old.
