Ear infection

The popping and ringing will be the eustacian tube clearing (it was probably blocked). To be honest, I had an ear infection about 10 years ago after a really bad virus and my ears have never been right since. I get a lot of popping and ringing and can't hear well from one ear. I've just got used to it I think but I cut out sugar and cut down on wheat this year and my ears are a lot better (I used to get a lot of ear pain).

I think if you hadn't been on strong antibiotics I would have suggested going back but that's normally to get stronger ones as sometimes it takes stronger ones to clear it up. You can always ask the Dr's advice about it?

I'd ring the Dr and ask them what they think is the best course of action. Just to say ears can take a while to get better when there has been an issue. I once hurt my ear somehow from pressure changes when I was doing PADI diving in a quarry. The pain was something else and it took ages for my ear to get properly better, like months. I hope your ears feel better soon.x

Thanks for the replies. Long term damage is what I’m so afraid of.

They are getting better every day. Last week I had my work headset on volume 100 and could barely hear, today it was on 16 and was fine but it’s more the constant ringing and popping that I’m worried about

I’ll just ring the dr again tomorrow as I’m finishing the antibiotics tomorrow. They just seemed very sure it was all related to sinus and would sort itself out but I can’t help be worried

You could ask for another antibiotic to see if it helps clear it.

Wanted to ask some advice as google is just sending me crazy

Also just FYI- I’ve had several covid tests and definitely negative

I got a bit of a sinus infection a couple of weeks ago. Had a blocked nose and very blocked ears. Also had a bit of a wet cough. Tried the usual Sudafed and decongestant sprays etc but wasn’t really working. My hearing was very reduced, could barely hear someone speaking right in front of me. So went to the dr who had a look and said my ears were clear of fluid/wax etc so likely just inflamed and related to sinuses. He could see pus on my tonsils (gross sorry) so said it’s likely I have some sort of bacterial infection causing it all.

He gave me strong antibiotics and ear drops. After a couple of days my hearing greatly improved but my ears still pop a lot and I have ringing in both ears. The drops were just blocking the hearing back up so haven’t kept using them. The antibiotics are due to end tomorrow but I just don’t feel like it’s properly got rid of the infection.

should I ask for another week? They are very strong antibiotics but the popping and ringing in my ears is driving me nuts! I’m reluctant to use the drops again because as I say, I felt they were just filling my ears up and not actually helping

I’ve never had issues with my hearing before so I’m quite anxious about it all
