Dyson airwrap

I have fine thin hair and wouldn’t recommend it. Any volume or curl disappeared within minutes.
I now use a babyliss big hair rotating hair dryer to get a bit of volume and smoothness. I’ve also just started using the planteur 39 shampoo and tonic range and that’s making a difference to my hair, it just has more ‘bounce’
Dry shampoo is a lifesaver for my limp fringe and the Bumble and Bumble dryspun texture spray is great too.

I bought the Airwrap a couple of months ago and ended up returning it. I have a couple of friends that both have it and their hair always looks beautiful, so it was a no brainer. However, it just did not work on my hair (which is quite thick and just past my shoulders) and I was so disappointed. I followed so many tutorials, bought lots of different products that were recommended and was so desperate for it to work but just couldn't get the style to stay. My hair would fall out to limp nothingness. Luckily, I bought the Airwrap directly from Dyson and they offer the option to pay monthly via PayPal Credit as well as quite a lengthy return policy, so maybe that's an option?

Would you recommend? Is it worth the price tag?

Can anyone recommend an alternative that they think works well?

I have the complete system and if anyone asks me about it, I tell them not to waste their time if they have thin hair like mine
The curls don’t last more than a couple of hours (after taking nearly an hour to put in, I have long hair) but I do like the hair dryer and smoothing brushes that came with it so not all is lost. I do wish I had returned it tbh.

I got one as I saw walked past a sales stall in a shopping centre so had a go and was very impressed. I thought long and hard before forking-out £400 for the 'longer hair' version. Took a few goes to get used to it, and you really do need to get your hair 95% dry with it's dryer attachment prior to using the styling brush but it's pretty amazing. Once you're done with the Dyson, your hair does then need a GHD to be run over it, but that takes 2mins.

I don’t think I’ll bother since I get a good style that holds with a hairdryer and then straightener but I thought this might be a good all in one. Seems not

I bought the full system when it first came out. I returned it. It just didn't get hot enough to hold a style in my hair. Nadine Bagot has a really good review video. Basically sums up what I thought about it. I bought a Diva hair dryer from salon services and with that I can get a better and longer lasting style.

yes, it is a lot of money although to be fair to the Dyson, I am fighting with 'chemo curl' so I might possibly not need the GHD if my hair was in it's pre-chemo state ;-)

I have thick wavy shoulder length hair and don’t get the hype. I have the dryer and love it so wanted the air wrap. It’s definitely not as easy to use as they make out. If I use the brush attachment I still have to go over it with the straighteners and it takes twice as long as using the dryer and a brush does. I find curling tedious. I have so much hair and you keep having to swap attachments to make the curls look natural. They also don’t last at all, have tried all sorts of products to try to keep them in place but usually gone within the hour.
Plus they’re now gifting them to all sorts of random influencers and that put me off even more

Absolutely recommend! It does take practice, but once you've mastered it it's worth every penny.

I have had mine since july last year I wouldn't be without it, my hair is extremely thick and frizzy. The air wrap is really quick and good to use to smooth and shape, the curl doesn't stay in with my hair so well. I would recommend it but its expensive I am saving for their straighteners too.

100% recommend! I have had mine since March and can't imagine not having it now. My hair is naturally frizzy so needs to be styled regularly but since having the dyson, it's easier to maintain and styles last longer.
Also feel like it doesn't need to be washed as much, too.

I have thin wispy hair .. bane of my life it never looks full of life after a normal blow dry, do you think the wrap works well with thin hair also fellow Tattlers?! I am toying with getting one as my hair is a big confidence knock at the minute

I'm unsure as my hair is on the thicker side and the curls do drop out (they're very fully on initially though so it's good when they've calmed down a bit).
Don't let your confidence be knocked... I'm sure your hair is fab and remember this is a really tough time! I recommend Ouai volume spray for thinner hair if you want a bit of a boost!

I’ve got one and love it. Mainly use it for nights out (so it’s not been out for a while), I feel I get a perfect bouncy blow dry with it. Still use dryer and straighteners for every day as I need to have my hair up for work, even without using it everyday it is well worth it!

Thank you it’s always been thin but got a lot worse since lockdown. Don’t know if my psoriasis flare up has contributed to that or the fact I always have it tied up because I can’t make it look nice down! Defo considering the wrap though all the same

It’s amazing I couldn’t be without mine now. QVC had a deal on them last week, not sure if it’s still on.

Also, if your hair is past your shoulder blades you should consider getting the one specifically for long hair. The original one would still work on it though if you didn’t.
