That’s probably the most tone deaf thing I’ve seen her post. With all that is going on right now who really wants to see her unboxing lavish gifts and talking about her expensive holiday. She should be embarrassed for herself thinking it’s appropriate. There’s people trapped in cities starving to death in Europe or fleeing for their lives with just the clothes on their backs and people at home here in Ireland who can’t afford to hear their homes. I know life is going on for us but I cannot stomach that showing off right now personally.

Is anyone here a Dr? What do real Drs think of her? I would be absolutely mortified if she was a colleague of mine.
I see her as someone who did a degree in medicine but decided to leave the career to set up a skin care shop instead. I’ve no issue with her deciding that clinical medicine is not for her - but the problem is the fact that 1) she has no specialist training in dermatology (anyone can go to those courses she goes to that are run by the companies whose products she sells!) and 2) she’s advertising herself as being a GP. She even said herself last week she’s not really a GP anymore.She is essentially using her doctor title to sell stuff. I think it’s unethical because the doctor title automatically comes with so much trust from the public. It’s like Dr Doireann and her vitamins - people will buy them purely because she’s a doctor when you can get the very same ones in Lidl for a quarter of the cost.

As a newly qualified GP without proper recognised specialisation (she hasn’t done a post grad masters or fellowship in aesthetics or Derm), She had to have other money to open the business considering the debt from post grad medical school costs, there is no bank who are in there right mind going to lend a newbie that kind of start up money without all the qualification proof. (Unless there is connections!)
I just can’t get over the lack of cop on between crying over the Ukraine saying she rarely watches the news (good to know a medical professional likes burying head in the sand and actively staying out of touch with the real world
), the Kim Kardashian ‘women need to just work harder’ or whatever that was about, and the unboxing of not 1 but 2 Cartier bracelets 
.All while posting under her Dr. Laura GP account, not a private account to friends, a very public account where people might seek to look for advice on what to look out for with chicken pox, or the flu or whatever (I don’t advocate for seeking medical advice on the internet but I’m fully aware the public do and doctors are out there using their credentials to give advice, some are a fantastic resource to the public, some are not). Personally think it’a a shame to have qualified as a GP, go out on a public platform using those credentials to show off jewellery and make women feel inadequate when they are working already working hard, maybe raising families and may have triple the qualifications in other fields and only be able to bring in a quarter of what she could potentially earn.

A lot of doctors come from generations of doctors. There's a sort of code of behavior that's passed on. YOU can learn it also with out having come from generations of medics.
It's hard to describe.
One thing is , money is not discussed and never show off wealth earned from caring for the sick. As its a vocation , not a money spinning operation.

Bitta tea on the instafamous gp. I'm in danger of outing my cousin but she gave me her blessing on this. My cousin did grad medicine with Laura. Laura is not a popular doctor. WhatsApp messages were flying when she was posting about how fun she was in college. Her classmates are not impressed. My cousin finds it laughable and disgraceful that ANY doc uses their account to BEG. She's not the only 1 to think DrLauraGP is greedy and a embarrassment. My cousin is very happy that she has not had to deal with Laura and her attitude since college. I'll ask her for more T next time I see her. Her peers are not surprised that Laura follows the cash.

Do you know what most of us do (and many of us with far less disposable income and/or public profile) when we want to renovate/decorate? We use Google. Look online. Visit shops. Read reviews. Do research about products/companies. Then, we fork up the cash ourselves! Shocking!!
We've been doing up our house for over a year and funnily enough that's how we have managed. We need to get doors and a carpet now. I don't really post on Instagram and I definitely don't do stories. I got some recommendations from real life friends. Maybe I should do a story, tag some companies and I'll get them for free?! Oh no wait, I'm a nobody so that wouldn't work.
It's so transparent that it's actually insulting. And we all then pay a bloody premium because these people get freebies. She's running a medi-cosmetic clinic with high fees and selling expensive product. I believe from here that the husband has a well paid job. But she won't buy her own kitchen because it might cut into the holiday budget and she'd only be able to go away twice or something instead of four times in a few months.

The best thing about Dr Hillary and many like her- she’s stayed in her lane- fashion and Taylor Swift, always puts a disclaimer if it’s opinion about anything medical- states her specialty and if it’s opinion, has played by the rules throughout etc and also, doesn’t appear to do any commission stuff so you’re not wondering what her “angle” is. The likes of Laura pontificate- puts herself on a pedestal, and has become all about the freebies. As a new business owner, she relies on Instagram more than ever. She was a mommy blogger to start (working mom/gp thing), following grew during the pandemic but the whole doom and gloom grew old for people like Laura- it impacted her ability to escape her kids too much! She hasn’t been a “front-line” health worker through any of this (mat leave etc)- the pandemic forced her to stay at home (as it did everyone) and she couldn’t get away on her trips. She markets herself as being drained by it all…. Wrecked is 100+ hours in hospital, 24r call every third day at the start. In fairness- I’m referencing a surgical trainee, but still. Laura sat at home and basically used her title to say she has contributed to the effort, to build a platform, but now hates the thing that grew her following- Covid. There would be no free kitchen if it hadn’t been for Covid and she seems to forget that.

Laura needs to decide what her lane is- is she a GP with an interest in dermatology or what’s her story because she looks disingenuous/out for the pay day. The constant begging for shit turns my stomach. The difference between her and all the people she's recommending is that them being out of clinic on a training day is the exception to the rule, not vice versa like her. They tend to then be in house implementing what they have learned. How many days in clinic has she done in June? It has to be less than 5. Absolute joker.

she uses her medical degree to add weight to her Skincare shilling business, what she is currently saying about vaccination of children is damaging. People will listen to her non scientific reasons to not vaccinate and do the same.
She is dangerous. She keeps saying “informed consent” , she is not providing this at all, she just has a gut feeling and is swaying other peoples decisions. Also, her children have a childminder, one is in school but the other two are essentially shielded from a lot of exposure so she needs to add that to her reasons.
I will say it again, just because you have a degree in medicine it does not make you a doctor , this one has no experience.
she is a glorified beautician and no offence to any beauticians out there, but I wouldn’t be taking medical advice from them.

Yeah, great description, she is so awkward to watch. This does not come naturally to her. She has zero fashion sense, just coz something is expensive does not mean it’s lovely.
Is it just me or is anyone else very very bored with the not very exotic holiday content? Could have done much the same in Canaries ? Not seeing why they had to fly business class half way around the world to hide from the sun in a fancy resort, getting insect bites and heat rash ? Not really selling it to me ! I would be heartbroken missing my kids by now if it were me. Could not last that long away, especially when all they are doing is lazing around ! Would be different if she had to be away with work .
