Do you play the lottery or something similar?

I was just browsing about on my phone and thought of I’ll pop on to the lotto app and place a ticket for tonight’s lotto and then thought, am I wasting my time and money? And it got me wondering... who else plays the lottery? If you do, you ever had any luck or big wins? If you don’t, why not?

I do play online quite a lot - euromillions, set for life and lotto. No big win yet but you’ve gotta be in it to win it 😂 or that’s what they say anyway. I’m always taking about when I win the lottery and il never win if I don’t play lol I won £50 from a £5 scratch card online a few weeks ago, life changing 😄

I don't do the lottery. My fella on the other hand 🤣 he does the lottery, the Irish lottery and the 49s. He wins often on the 49s but its not much around 300-500 and same with the Irish. He seems to win when it's a roll down on the lottery but only 130ish. I am guilty of the word scratchcards and the bingo ones 😂

I do the postcode lottery every month for a tenner, never won but the amount of times the next postcode over has won is infuriating

Yeah set for life and sometimes euro millions. At least gives me some hope to keep me going that my life will change 😂 I sometimes also play instant scratch cards on national lottery but that's not good, had to set a limit for myself for daily plays 🤣monopoly is my favourite

I used to do the lottery , never won as much as a tenner ... I had a dream a few weeks back , gave me 3 numbers , I made up the other 3 numbers with my children’s ages ....not so much as a lucky dip ffs
I know the numbers now .. can’t give it up as ....what if !!... what if I won ... I’ve planned the money as well . If it was lucky dips I wouldn’t bother doing it

I do the postcode lottery and I do lotteries with a few animal charities. I've never won but I'm not bothered as I'm donating money to them.

I have been playing the lottery since the day it started, which I believe was 19th/20th November 1994. I have never got 5 numbers on the lottery, but I have got 4 numbers a few times. I have also won on the Hotpicks game a few times, winning a few hundred pounds each time.

I now tend to play online, as it is quick and easy to play and any wins go straight into your online account and if they’re decent enough, they can be transferred into your bank account a few days later. I won £74 on the Lotto roll down a couple of weeks ago (nobody had won the jackpot, so they do the roll down). I put £50 into my bank account and left the rest in my online account for future games.

I live in hope that one day I will win a decent amount. I also play on the Thunderball game, as it’s only £1 a ticket and the top prize is £500,000, which I wouldn’t say no to. 😉

I have also won on the Irish lottery a few times. Won around £400 some years back for only doing 3 numbers I think. The Irish lottery is quite a good one to play, if you can find a betting shop!

I do the euromillions once in a blue moon, when the prize money is really high. Probably the worst time to do it. Most I've ever won was about £20.

I've never done the lottery and never heard of anyone who has won. Also the most stupid thing I've heard is you gotta be in it to win it. More like you gotta be in it to lose it. Anyway I would love to wake up one day and be a millionaire but it won't happen so...

It's not really the worst time, the probability of your numbers coming up doesn't change with the size of the prize! It's still extremely small 🤣 but one can dream. My boyfriend sometimes doesn't check his tickets for a few days because he likes thinking he might have won for a bit longer lol

It's more the fact that when so many others are doing it at the same time, if you win you're more likely to end up sharing the money with someone else.

I don't think it's something I'll ever have to worry about though 😂

Lottery, cat charity and post code
Lottery: lots of £10s and over hundred once
Post code: £10s a few times
Scratch cards: highest £30

I pay £5 monthly into my trade union's welfare fund lottery. There's a chance of winning a prize but if not it goes towards people in need, which I'm happy with.

You can do it online! I think he does it on bet 365. He had a winning streak before Christmas and won 300 quid three times on the Wednesday draw 😂 was nice 😂

Yeah but then the prize is so big you still get a good share and it's so unlikely that tons of people would also have the right numbers. But as you said, not something to worry about really and might as well aim to win big if you're gonna win 😂
