How lucky she is that it was caught very, very early and she only needs 5 sessions of radiotherapy in January. She could have got away with not even mentioning it but that’s not her style.
I'm baffled by the nasty tone of your post, to be honest? Perhaps you don't like her, but it seems really unnecessary to make a comment like this. I'm glad she caught it very early before it spread, and also glad she has chosen to take what must have been an incredibly scary experience for her and try to use it as a way of helping other women. This is what she says at the end of the video where she announces it:

"I think my message is, get checked if you’re worried, check yourself regularly. If you are due a mammogram, then get it done. And I have dense breasts, and I had a mammogram in August, and I was postponing the ultrasound. I just couldn’t find time to do it. Don’t do that. Get the ultrasound, and thanks for watching. And I’m sending you all a massive hug.”

She's got a wide reach in terms of her audience, and women who have perhaps been putting off a mammogram, or who have found a lump and haven't got round to getting it checked yet, will absolutely think twice after seeing that video. Surely that's a positive thing?

Thought long and hard about posting this but here goes …I had breast cancer several years ago and had surgery , chemo and radiotherapy . Every time a news article or an awareness raising social media post came up I found it very triggering . This culminated in the very sad death of Sarah Harding . This upset me a great deal and again the coverage was very triggering and extremely frightening. Now I work as a Counsellor and often work with clients who have or are affected by cancer . They often talk about quietly watching tv and then an advert for Cancer Research or Macmillan pops up and they are dragged back into trauma . I get that many people find Davina’s approach of raising awareness helpful but I don’t share that sentiment. Women do need to be educated re B C but by the medical professionals not celebrities IMO .Surely at this point there is enough “awareness” around about checking breasts and mammograms etc without Davina having to publicly share her situation. I wish her well but also every other woman dealing with this disease .

So5 we really need more awareneas of the same thing its everywhere everyones written a book about it spoken on tv about it its hardly hushed is it
Just because people are aware of an illness it doesn’t mean they are conscious of it. Lots of people think “it couldn’t happen to me, I’m too young, or fit or healthy” etc etc. someone like Davina, who is a health and fitness obsessive, showing that she has it, makes it a real thing for people who may not have really thought about it before.

Frankly, being snarky and bitchy and moaning about someone raising awareness of a horrid deadly disease is gross and is part of the reason Tattle has a bad name.

Easy to say get it checked asap when youve got private healthcare.
Different story via the NHS.
My 75 year old aunt booked a mammogram this time last year (they’re not routine at her age so it’s up to individuals to book themselves in). They found a shadow and two weeks later she was in hospital having a biopsy. They found and removed pre- cancerous cells, which hadn’t spread. No further treatment needed. All on NHS. She was lucky as she continues to book herself in for screening like this despite being past the age where you’re called up.

I'll word this carefully but she's been very vocal about every health concern she's ever had. Drug and alcohol addiction, menopause, brain tumour and now breast cancer. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, but I just don't understand why she has to make everything so public.

And will she be now be telling all of those women that she evangelised HRT to that it increases your risks of hormone receptive cancers?

Yeah, im feeling a bit needy and sorry for myself, but I learned a couple of days ago that I have a brain tumour. I'm in a daze. Luckily though, it may be benign 🤞 Stories such as Davina's are reassuring.

I do wonder how much the drug companies paid her to promote HRT. The programmes she made didn't sit well with me. They felt like very one sided propaganda.

Not sure why you’re baffled? We all have our own opinions and this is mine.

I doubt there are many women nowadays not aware of Breast cancer awareness. It’s always in the media what with the amount of Celebs that have had it and already raised awareness.

I always find time for my NHS mammograms. They’re very important. I also check my breasts regularly which is also important.

Davina goes private as we know from her previous health problem. She also got her HRT and testosterone privately. It’s hard to get testosterone on the NHS so yeah I do consider her luckier than someone having to rely on NHS treatment and yeah, can’t say I’m really a fan of her and this is a gossip forum and this isn’t a rave thread.

Wasn't sure if there was a thread for her?
Just wishing her well after an operation for a rare, but benign brain tumor
Her partner, hairdresser, Michael Douglas, has posted on her IG that the operation went well

There were a big uptick in men getting checks after King Charles diagnosis , same when Jade Goodie documented her cancer journey , like you say although everyone’s aware it brings it home when it’s someone in the public eye.

I wish her well, but she has peddled a lot of dangerous information about HRT, even claiming once that it could ward off dementia.

I'm another who thinks that Colleen Nolan and Lorraine Kelly flashing their puppies, is not raising awareness of anything other than their desperate need for attention. I do not know a single woman who is not aware of breast cancer and how to check yourself regularly and be alert for changes.

Wholeheartedly agree. Social media is not the place to be telling people to get their health checked out, I actually think it's quite dangerous to be honest. And the lines blur between public awareness and self promotion.

I can’t stand her new laugh, she sounds like a dog panting, she’s also really silly around her partner Michael. Also, considering she has a partner who is a hair stylist her hair: colour and cut always looks so awful.

I wish her all the best.

Going back to her championing of HRT - it was all over the press a few years back, that she had won her campaign to make HRT free.
I am not sure what happened regarding this victory, as I still pay for mine?
I am aware that there is now reduced charges, if you purchase the annual certificate - but it’s not free,

How you doing Ellen? That sounds very scary.
Thanks for asking. I'm still in the 'limbo' phase, and have since learned that I have other urgent issues, onne of which will also require surgery. It never rains but it pours eh? 🙁 I'm just trying to stay calm. Especially for my loved-ones. X
