I was going to buy it but hearing about the bugs really put me off. I’m not surprised it’s happened to be honest - games are being released in an increasingly buggy state. I remember Skyrim had issues and fallout was the same. It’s like companies head honchos with no programming knowledge just think “sod it, we’ll patch it later” but don’t understand the implications.

We brought this for Xbox series x and ps4. The Xbox version is a digital copy and the PS4 physical.
Patches applied to both. PS4 patch took a massive 4 hours to download, so don’t leave the installation till Christmas Day if they want to play it same day.
PS4 version works smoothly and well, havnt found any bugs as yet. What I will say if the graphics are pretty poor, ( both Witcher & Red Dead 2 are miles ahead aesthetics wise & these are not new games) though given how well the game runs I understand they had to compromise somewhere down the line.
Xbox series X again runs well and goes without saying looks better. But running wise can’t really tell the difference between the two.

Trust me it's not any better on the PS5
Have you updated to 1.06?

I've only just got to Keanu and really enjoying it, although it's buggy - still great. It'll probably be a really good game in a year

I am enjoying Google being all smug and using it to push stadia where it runs pretty well.

We’ve got Cyberpunk artwork up from displate (my bf chose it) and he’s just turned round and declared he doesn’t like it anymore as the game is such a flop 🙈. I’m sure it’ll be much better on the ps5 (when we’re able to purchase one like)
In the mean time I’m begging him for us to finish the Last of Us part 2 😫😫

We have it on PS4. We’ve turned most of the visual settings down or off and it isn’t too bad to play, although you can see where it is struggling to process textures, especially when driving. We only had a couple of crashes in the first few days and haven’t had any recently. Partner has played around 55 hours and is really loving the story and gameplay. Understand why people are disappointed but for us it’s playable and that’s enough just now - we’ll look forward to replaying on ps5 when we eventually get one. I’m playing through Witcher 3 just now and the graphics on Cyberpunk are nothing in comparison.

I want to play this game but I think I’m gonna wait six months or so for them to fix it. Bugs aside it looks a little disappointing from what I’ve read/seen so far. The ai doesn’t seem very intelligent
Same, I've got on stadia. Maybe come march it'll be fixed enough, it will be good once the bugs on next gen systems are ironed out.

Most of the smart things in GTA5 I didn't even realise it did. I remember when I first played that I was blown away. Cyberpunk does look good from the hour I've spent on it, but haven't been wowed. And gta was so long ago!

It was still on the shelves in Tesco last night, must just be a matter of time before all shops pull it. I wish there was someone inside sayin exactly what went wrong. The management must be in a real mess for this to have happened.

I wonder if it ever will be fixed on current gen, seeing how badly it runs it might not ever be a good experience.

I bought it for my bf for Christmas, I hope its not as bad as everyone is saying 😬
I also bought it for my bf for Christmas, and he was telling me about it the other day, saying it had a lot of bugs and people are issuing refunds and I was sat there like 🙃
Did you guys buy it on pc or console? On pc it's still great (just as long as the pc is high spec).

The Bloomberg article probably has the most internal details. Which pretty much comes down to the board pushing for the release.

Awkward😆
Another developer asked whether CD Projekt’s directors felt it was hypocritical to make a game about corporate exploitation while expecting that their employees work overtime. The response was vague and noncommital.

i miss cartridge games where it needed to work and they wouldn't try to sell extras.

Lots of retailers are giving a deadline of 21st December, so Monday, for refunds.

Probably the biggest gaming drama in years. Anyone else been following it? Or if you've bought it for Christmas it's worth getting up to date!

In a nutshell, overhyped game that the developers only let reviewers review the PC version. People generally found it really good, but with lots of bugs.

Then it comes out on ps4 and Xbox old consoles and it's absolutely terrible to the point of being unplayable.

People rightly feel tricked and deceived, especially as they're reassured by the developers that it would run great.

The makers CD projekt red issue an apology and tell people that bought it to ask for a refund from the retailer. Obviously this causes lots of problems as games aren't returnable once opened so your average Argos employee tells them no refund. Sony and MS aren't helpful either at giving digital refunds.

Now Sony has pulled it from their store and issued refunds.

Strange that it got this far, from a developer that doesn't have a bad reputation either. I guess they all kept thinking they'd get a patch out in time to fix it for release and carried on with the wishful thinking until the shitstorm unfolded

They made all the money back on making the game (Inc Keanu reeves fees) on day one of release. So probably for the best if Sony pull it and make them work for a few more months before they sell it

This fiasco could give brexit a run for its money. What a shit show.

I want to play this game but I think I’m gonna wait six months or so for them to fix it. Bugs aside it looks a little disappointing from what I’ve read/seen so far. The ai doesn’t seem very intelligent (if you block the road cars just sit there and wait patiently for infinity until you move) and apparently you can’t change your characters looks once you’ve left the creation screen at the start which considering the kind of game it claims to be is disappointing. It seems a lot of content they originally promised has been cut or dumbed down, they could have done with spending another year or so working on it to iron out everything and make it work better on console. I’m tired of people saying people shouldn’t expect it to work on ‘old hardware’ like the base PS4, if it’s advertised on that platform then it should work on that platform, end of. Plenty of games that released this year work perfectly on base PS4.

I still think this could be a good game but I don’t think it will be the immersive, groundbreaking, blockbuster rpg they promised. They fucked up with announcing it so soon, from that moment the pressure was on and people (fans, investors, publishers) had expectations. Studios like Rockstar keep their shit under wraps until it’s basically ready and it works well for them.

edit: is this one of the ‘choices’ in game? Good grief it’s worse than I thought😅

I've also been chatting about it a bit on the video game thread.
We got it on the PS4 when it first came out and didn't find it too buggy so OH managed to play through it and then never touched it again. We have a gaming PC now and got it on sale a few months back. He's done a full playthrough and I'm just up to the start of act 3. I love RPGs but never usually play shooter style ones or first person style games so it's been a bit of a learning curve for me but honestly I've loved it. Just playing on the easiest mode as I'm enjoying the story mostly and not overly bothered about combat being a challenge. Been taking a break now mostly to complete gigs and side jobs but thinking I'll hop back to the story soon and get it completed. We don't have the expansion yet but will probably pick it up soon.

Remember when games were released and you actually got a finished product?😅

I mean on the one hand it’s good developers can patch games after release to improve things because there’s always something that needs tweaking. But there’s that and then there’s releasing a game before it’s ready because you don’t want to miss out on Christmas profit/upset investors.

I feel for cdpr in some ways, they made many mistakes of course, but being under pressure from the board won’t have helped, the last delay caused people to absolutely lose their shit, it was crazy. They backed themselves into a corner and the game became massively overhyped. I bet many of the ‘little people’ working on the game weren’t happy with the final product but had no power to do anything about it.

I still hold out some hope. The Witcher 3 was buggy on consoles when it released (cdpr make games for pc and it shows), but they fixed it right up and made some of the best dlc ever, now some years later it’s considered one of the best games of its time with one of the best open worlds and it still holds up today. Hope Cyberpunk can make a similar recovery, but I hope this doesn’t become a pattern for cdpr.

We’ve got it on PC and bar the odd few bugs it plays fine and is an incredible game. Really feeling for all of those who bought it for consoles, it’s an absolute shambles on the devs part and I really hope refunds are issued as promised!
Finally got round to playing it a fair bit and I really didn't notice many bugs on stadia. The game is missing a lot of polish, but it's still great. It's mostly dialogue and on screen boxes messing up. I doubt the two major fixes will bring it up to the standard of rockstar games - but they did spend double the amount of time for red dead 2 compared to cyberpunk. Shame as it could have been amazing.

The suicide ending was rubbish, going back to earth for 6 months is the best ending I've got so far.

Kinda a dead thread, but did anyone watch the anime show? Not usually my kind of thing but it is brilliant.

CDPR have turned this mess around a lot and made me want to play it all again and rediscover the soundtrack.

Thanks, I might get it if it goes on sale if it's something that can be unlocked at anytime an isn't too important to the main storyline, just didn't want to start a game then realise that liberty completely changes the entire game
Yeah I think it's just an expansion and gives you a new ending, but once you've got any ending the game takes you back to before your "endgame" save so you can do more jobs/try for a different ending etc so there's plenty opportunity to do the new Phantom Liberty stuff even if you've already played the game through. The main changes for gameplay were applied for everyone with the expansion patch even if you don't have Liberty. I logged in after the expansion came out and all my character perk points had been reset because the skill tree is totally different now so had to go and spend ages reassigning everything and coming up with a good build in the new design.

The Liberty expansion just unlocks another part of the existing map from the base game that was blocked off prior. You can start it whenever you like. It turns up in your mission list as a side quest to meet a certain character at a certain location near the level entrance. I nearly started it early doors by accident till I realised it was part of the expansion and not a base game quest. You can travel between base game and expansion anytime between missions just by using the entrance between maps.

It also apparently gives you another ending to the original base game. I want to try this as I reckon I messed up my game ending as someone distracted me at a key point and I lost the thread at the finale.

Everything in the game levels up with you so it's always balanced. Theres also a new skill tree called "the relic" or something which gives you various character boosts esp in melee which is of no interest to me personally.

It's generous with various fairly high powered unique weaponry you can loot/find.

New vehicles not so certain tbh. I just bought the best bike available and stuck with that. It's far nippier in heavy traffic.

It's worth checking out and you can dip in and out of it. I just find it kind of underwhelming after reading various 10/10 "perfect" reviews of it. It's not.
I'm in no hurry to finish it and keep putting it off.
