I am heartily ashamed of what is says about me that I did NOT expect to see talk of holidays or ships when I clicked on this thread.

Yes that was one of my concerns too! I love the buffet and how I can have a Greek salad with exactly the amount of tomatoes and olives I want rather than it being dished up for me etc and if I want something with it that doesn’t match I can just chuck it on the plate! and my kids have tried so many new foods on a cruise that they’d never have had if we’d have had to order a whole dish of it!One of the silly reasons I wanted to go on one was for the buffet - the ones I went on before had amazing huge buffets spanning so many different types of food. It’s hard to imagine buffets being being the same / feeling comfortable eating from one
I thought the same.I am heartily ashamed of what is says about me that I did NOT expect to see talk of holidays or ships when I clicked on this thread.I'll show myself out
You will love the Baltics, it's a tad expensive but well worth it. Every country is so very different. We managed to do our last cruise in January just before all this kicked off, and went from San Diego (fabulous place to spend a few days before boarding) through the Panama Canal and round the Caribbean. I can recommend it.Avid cruiser here!! 17 and counting! We had a Baltic one booked for summer next year but think we might cancel it or try to move it to 2022 as I really don’t fancy wearing a mask onboard all the time! Plus what other people have said about the buffet... just won’t be the same!!
If you and your mum are young at heart you may enjoy Royal Caribbean.I had been planning on taking my mum on a cruise in 2021 for ages but that's scuppered! Maybe 2022, it would be her first but she's always fancied it.
Anyone have recommendations for a first cruise?
we cruise with p&o too!I have cruised since I was 9! First one of P&Os Canberra in 1992! Been going ever since! I had 3 cruises booked for this year that have obviously been cancelled and 2 future cruise deposits also (all with Princess!) we have one booked on P&O’s Britannia 17h July next year that I desperately hope will still go but not entirely convinced it will.
I don’t particularly want to sail if things aren’t the same as they always have been but I think that will be a long time coming.
Insurance doesnt cover pandemics apparentlyOh that's dreadful. Are you able to claim on your insurance?
Insurance premiums are bound to rocket if we ever get out of this mess and can return to enjoying holidays again.
I did my first and only (so far) cruise 9 years ago. A very kind friend treated me to this wonderful holiday and I can honestly say it was one of the the best holidays I have had. We had a suite of rooms, we each had our own room within a larger room and a huge double deck at the rear of the ship. Talk about be spoilt, it was luxury.I used to enjoy cruising, and retired three years ago to enjoy travelling. I'd worked all my life and felt that I deserved this. I was therefore wondering how many members here also have been on a cruise, and due to covid lurking everywhere, when would you feel comfortable joining a ship again for your holiday.
At the moment I'm aware that MSC Grandiosa is sailing again, but they have introduced their own strict restrictions. Face masks to be worn when passengers leave their cabins, and they can only go ashore if they join an excursion organised by the ship. One family broke away to do their own thing, but were refused entry back on board when they returned. Under these conditions I'd rather not sail, but would you?
I toyed with the idea of clicking onto it.I am heartily ashamed of what is says about me that I did NOT expect to see talk of holidays or ships when I clicked on this thread.I'll show myself out
Oh that's dreadful. Are you able to claim on your insurance?I adore cruising. Ive done 3 transatlantics on Royal Caribbean.
We had a chartered jane mcdonald cruise booked for this month (mum wanted someone to go with!) anyway it got moved to next year and then cancelled and the companys gone under so weve potentially lost alot of money.
