Swiss hospitals could collapse in 10 days if the current rate of the virus spread continues. Very worrying for such a prosperous and we'll organised (apparently) country. Or is it headlines to try to make people take it seriously?

Have seen this post going round facebook, apologies if it's already been posted..

Dear People of the UK

You will of course be aware that Italy has taken extreme measures in the hope of slowing the spread of the Corona Virus. These are measures the UK may be forced to implement, later down the line.

As a Brit living in Italy, here are some things you need to know:
Our supermarkets HAVE STAYED OPEN. They are on slightly reduced hours and you have to queue to get in (yes, it’s a ball-ache) but they are OPEN. EVERY DAY. Deliveries continue to arrive so for fucks sake, shop like NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS!
Enforced social isolation does not mean you cannot leave your house. It means you can still leave your house for ESSENTIAL activity, like shopping. So put down the bleeping pasta and toilet rolls and breathe. Now you don’t have to share a bed with your four kids because you’ve had to turn their rooms in to store cupboards for the all the pointless and selfish hoarding you are doing.
Pharmacies are still open so you DO NOT NEED 236 bottles of Calpol, 429 packets of paracetamol and 987 Tubigrips. Colds, flu, headaches, muscle pain, period pain, teething babies. They are still out there, Corona Virus or not. So, again, step away from the goods, buy what you NEED, put back what you don’t. We still have access to all basic medical needs. Again, we have to queue and observe the recommended 1M distance from others but within our community, this has been well-organised and adhered to. Suck it up. For info, the Italians do not queue or respect personal space in the way that we Brits do. If they can do it, then you bleeping can too! It’s practically a national pastime!
Bakeries and butchers - still open. See points above.
Pet shops - still open. Calm it, Fido. Your nightly Dentastix is safe.
DIY shops - still open for ESSENTIAL maintenance items. I only know this because I tried to buy a cactus when I went for a new shower head, only to find non-essential aisles closed to the public. Fair enough, right?
Do me a favour. Share this around. The measures are extreme but they are not SO extreme that you need to be utter Cunts to each other.
Shop responsibly. Then go home, pour yourself a gin and celebrate the fact that your food shop is not going to take you 6 hours to put away.
And let’s be honest, on the off chance that you do contract the virus, the last bleeping thing you are going to want is a big bowl of pasta, 2ltrs of Fanta and a bumper pack of bleeping Morrison’s sausage rolls.

I know, right?! My work has reduced its hours to "allow us to avoid the busy commute times" but then makes us work in shops all day serving god knows who from god knows where!:(

Boris always seems to look out of his depth when answering questions, he just mumbles and bumbles along without actually giving out any information.
I don’t see Corbyn being any better. In fact not many of our politicians I’d pick to get us through this. We’ve got what we’ve got. I actually think party politics should be put aside and both parties should present this as a united front, at a time of crisis we don’t need jeering from labour supporters that he’s doing it wrong, we need everyone to pull together.

Hi all, just checking in.
Our province here in Canada has now declared a state of emergency, not just the city state of emergency.
Restaurants are still open but not allowed more than 50 people - I see them closing in the next day or so. Take away is still allowed as of now.
- gyms, swimming pools, libraries, arena, museums, science centre, art galleries, community centres, children's play centres, casinos, and bingo halls must all be closed.
- schools/daycares are closed until end of the school year/September.
- bars and nightclubs are closed.
- weddings and funerals should be cancelled.
- offices recommended to work from home.

To be honest, he'd be damned whatever he did as you can't keep everyone happy. Theresa May tried that with Brexit and look where it got her (I actually think in different circumstances she might have been a decent PM... Altho not necessarily these circumstances 😂😂😂)

So basically the government is doing duck all to help business’ apart from covering SSP.
we have an engineering firm that does fairly well but if the worst case scenario was to happen some of our customers might not recover and owe us loads. Also all the bills we’ll need to pay despite not earning anything for a month or two could be crippling and Brexit have already caused some issues.
The government should have looked to the USA where they are freezing utilities and mortgages/rent for three months to help out

The people in the German big brother house have no idea this is going on! They went in on the 6th of Feb! Imagine being told what’s happening in one hit! We’ve had weeks of gradual build up. They’re just going to get it all in one go!

Yes. They made VERY clear before closing the schools that it would take careful consideration because if they closed them, it is not enough to close them for a few weeks, it would be months.
Makes sense. I don’t think me and my 3 kids would make it to September tbh-they’d have better chances of survival if I just let them wander the streets 🤪

Wow. That is a long time off. I wonder if the children will have to repeat a school year. Although schools can set work online its not as effective as being at school. Awful as well for the children in exam time. Six months closed, I’m gobsmacked.

@Reflected view I think the news reporter said it wrong. Everywhere I've looked its saying one thousand more cases today from 3.5k to 4.5k with 92 deaths total.

Gosh imagine if someone from the production team went in to get swabs, all Haz-Mat style. The contestants would just think it was part of the game anyway. If the TV guys said, oh there's a worldwide pandemic of a virus out there that's made the entire world shut down, they would be all like "riiiiiight…….."

Whilst my work situation is causing some stress, imagine getting this email from your boss! My friend sent it to me as her boss emailed it to everyone in the company today.

As if it's not hard leaving the big brother house after a few weeks of not normal to this. I'd chain myself to the fittings 😭
