@Renata the average is 1 in 50 in England but 1 in 30 in London
Between last years numbers and then the cases here for the last month surely soon almost everyone in London will have had it over the past 9 months? They don’t know exactly what immunity you have but there’s suggestion you do have some level. Doesn’t make sense to me. Surely we should be approaching reaching some kind of herd immunity now?

I read today that across the country only 9% have antibodies from the ONS report.

After the first wave, a maximum 15% of Londoners had antibodies, so it stands to reason even Londoners will still be quite under 50% after this wave.

People don’t seem to be getting it over and over though, and with huge numbers of asymptomatic cases, surely at some point soon almost everyone say in London will have had it (or come in to contact and be immune to it which obviously some people are to explain not entire households catching it). The numbers would surely have been 40k a day at the first peak if we had the same testing levels and I am sure it was probably here prior to 2020 anyway.
Around 9 million people live in London, since March England has had 2.5 million cases

First time dipping into the covid threads, what I wanna know is how so many selfish little shits are getting away with travelling to Dubai. What are they quoting for this "essential reason" I hope the careless twerps are stuck out there til this lockdown ends!

Sorry it’s late - I’ve been watching the crown and didn’t realise the time 😂 never posted before just lurked previously but wanted some advice. I have a neighbour who has been mixing alot since the tier system/second lockdown she was ok in the first one - young woman with two small children and I do find her quite pleasant etc, she has a support bubble with her sister as she told me this herself and that is fair enough it’s allowed but this week she has had all different people round - not big parties/gatherings but just different households going round. Tonight I called at the local shop and she was there with a random bloke and two other people buying beer - obviously all going round to hers, my other neighbour messaged me on Facebook and said she had reported her on the online form you fill out (never reported anyone before so don’t know what that is) and that the police never came, she told me to do the same so it would be two of us but I couldn’t bring myself to do it - I’ve been bought up not to be a “grass” but it is wrong what she is doing. What do I do?? I’m shocked the police didn’t come to be honest thought they would be on it.

I would avoid her and her family, the shop she goes to and keep you and yours as safe & clean as possible. If "grassing" her up makes you feel bad, don't do it - never mind what your other neighbour encourages you to do. I have a neighbour like yours who has lots of folk round - nice woman but clearly doesn't care about the care we all have to take. It sounds like you have doubts about telling the police or you wouldn't be asking what to do. That's fine (I haven't phoned the police on my "busy" neighbour either), but just keep yourself safe and clean. I just say hi to my neighbour and keep on doing whatever I'm doing. There will be an end to all this eventually.

I’m in the same position with somebody who lives nearby. A woman who has family, boyfriend and a couple of different friends over. I thought this week she would stop with lockdown but boyfriend is here again! It does annoy me. If no one else comes around after him then I suppose she can get away with it but she normally has about 4/5 different households over. I’ve just decided to ignore it it’s not my place at all to report just because it annoys me. If they want to catch it from and spread it that’s their choice.

Thankfully all our other neighbours seem to be sticking to the rules and I know most people at the minute who are doing the same! It’s the minority being selfish which was always to be expected.

This is far more reassuring than hearing “one in twenty have it” and “behave like you’ve got it”.

Not to be rude but... how on earth are you keeping track of who is in/out of your neighbours houses? I wouldn’t have the time or energy to sit looking out the window all day. My downstairs neighbours are both single, I don’t know what their circumstances are and I wouldn’t dream of reporting them if I hear someone else in their flat. I’d report excessive noise or parties, but not individual visitors, it’s not worth the hassle.

Rising to 1 in 20 in some London boroughs... Awful.

I've behaved like I've had it from march. And I've behaved like people I come into contact has it too.... I don't see acting like this as a and thing... Surely it just means wear your mask and distance? Teacher with 4 covid tests 'under my belt' as this far no positives. I think this must be the reason why. Stringent SD and hand washing.

This is recorded cases though and actual cases are likely to be at least double or even triple this figure. Not quite herd immunity levels but by the end of this wave enough people may well have had the antibodies, combined with those who have been vaccinated to make it than next winter is closer to normal and more like a normal flu year.

“Behave like you’ve got it” is an excellent quote that more people should take heed of...it’s an excellent way to act to control the virus, the point is that one third of people who have covid don’t know they have it and are spreading it.....if they were to behave like they have it then they wouldn’t spread it.

I’m not sure I wholeheartedly agree. Surely this is causing emotional trauma to do such a thing? I can see why the public would be advised to take precautions, but to act like they’ve got an illness, it just doesn’t sit well with me.

Yes my thoughts are that if majority of people are mild or asymptomatic and thus wouldn’t have known or been tested then the real figures especially before mass testing surely the real number is much much higher than 2.5m cases. People don’t seem to be getting it over and over (and I have heard of more cases of people being less careful after because they assume they won’t get it twice) so I’m hopeful that by next winter we are much closer to some level of herd immunity coupled with those who have the vaccine.

Does anybody know if the vaccine will have an effect on the PCR test results? Especially the Oxford one which gives you part of the “dead” virus. I’ve read so much about the unreliability of the PCR tests as it is, false positives and low threshold for positive... I wonder if people who’ve had the vaccine will therefore test positive because the virus is detected? I keep getting NHS letters inviting me to take part in a covid study regardless of whether I have symptoms so they clearly are still testing people in the community regardless of symptoms and if they do this to people who have the vaccine, will the numbers be kept artificially high?

I agree, it’s scare tactics. I get why they are saying it to target the minority. But it also terrifies those that have been diligent for the last 10 months,l.
