So if the isolation period is reduced to 10 days, we have until Tues before any further isolation affects Christmas?! Is that right?! I’m tempted to pull my son out of school next week so we don’t miss Christmas. One of my school mum friends is doing it and said our head is happy to log it as a covid absence and it be authorised so no fine. I’m immune suppressed so anxious anyway. I haven’t been able to see my partner since nov 4th and I really want to see him for those 5 days over Christmas and I don’t want a school isolation to affect that.

I'd just go for it ! who the hell's caring about school absences this year we've all more important things on our minds ,even the teachers are fed up. I'd say they'll be very few kids in schools next week .

Someone on my Facebook has just posted they are in London for the weekend. Going to the HP studio tour. They are from a tier 4 (moving to tier 3 at 6pm) area in Scotland. Obviously tiers and travel restrictions mean nothing to them.

I am tempted! She annoys me at the best of times and I don't really know her that well so I don't really care if I get a block or whatever. She has been twisting the rules to suit for weeks and I'm just fed up of it.

I can’t help but feel suspicious about them reducing SI days to fit in with keeping kids in school

Still doesn't work though as if kids last day is the 18th then 10 days from then is the 28th which still means potentially self isolating over Christmas

As someone with a food allergy I’m now a bit worried about the vaccine :(
It's now recommended that nobody with any kind of food/medical allergy should have the jab if you have had previous anaphylaxis. If you've not suffered anaphylaxis you would need to weigh up your personal risks.

"The MHRA has also adopted a very risk-averse approach, recommending that for now the vaccine is not offered to anyone reporting a history of immediate-onset anaphylaxis to a vaccine, medicine or food."

Is it any kind of allergy or severe they mean ? my eldest son had a reaction to something once (we never found the cause ) it was severe ulticaria for about 8 weeks his lips were swollen but not his tongue ,he's not had it since that was about 12 yrs ago .I wonder would he be included in that .

They usually mean a severe anaphylactic reaction requiring hospital treatment/intervention. Kids who've had a severe reaction to egg can't have the nasal flu vaccine. MMR vaccine is advised against in severe gelatin and neomycin allergies and the HPV vaccine is advised against for severe yeast allergies, but I've never seen one with a total blanket advisory warning like this. I guess it's because there's not been enough evidence or testing yet.

Which brings me back to my statement that I’d hope they’d have more than StJohns ambulance trained volunteers to deal with a situation should it occur.. just saw there’s been a further possible allergic reaction.

It's certainly going to exclude a lot of people. Allergy is the most common chronic disease in Europe. Approx 20% of people in all developed countries have some sort of food allergy, and in 20% of those it is classed as the most severe form.

It said they needed rapid treatment so it must have been severe enough to warrant that. There’s a few kids at my son’s school with severe nut allergies we’re not allowed to send anything in that could contain nuts.
