I don't think so for France. We're in a better position (number of cases, deaths, vaccinated people...) than Germany for ex and already have the pass for restaurants/cinemas. For now they want old people to take the third jab.. I don't see people going back to lockdowns.
Also we have next presidential elections in 2022 haha
Isn't Macron so deeply unpopular that he can do what he likes?

Europe's problem (including France) is that high cases were a good thing during the summer as it just made the vaccine immunity last. Without cases and natural exposure the vaccine is waning and the same battle needs to be fought with boosters. The Coq is literally coming home to roost.

Macron didn't declare as a candidate yet but we all know he will. And we don't know all the opponents (we know most but for ex the Conservatives have to choose their candidate between 5). In all, there are about 30 candidates lol
In last surveys, it's always Macron first followed by the Extreme right, but probably too soon anyway to do predictions.
