Coffee machines and coffee pods

I have the Nespresso Vertuo machine with an Aeroccino attachment (bought the two together during a promotion) and like it. It makes pretty hot (very important to me, and I find a lot of machine don't heat the water enough) and delicious coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos. The main issue I have with it is the cost of the pods, which are quite expensive here in North America and for the Vertuo line, there are basically no decent, cheaper, third party options. The pods are cheaper in the EU so it may be a better option for those of you living there! And you can also bring used pods back to Nespresso for recycling so it's environmentally friendly in that sense, which was important to me.

I think there are different sizes now. We don’t have one but we recently got one for my grandparents and I think I remember seeing there are original and a bigger size of capsule.

I have the nespresso essenza mini - they take the original nespresso capsules. Also, when other brands make coffee pods (we buy caffe nero ones too) they tend to make them in the 'original' format rather than the newer vertuo nespresso brand.

I just add milk out the fridge to my coffee after its done if I want it, otherwise take it black. The essenza mini does 2 sizes - lungo and espresso. I usually press lungo twice for a biggish cup of coffee.

Which nespresso makes lattes?

I am considering buying a Nespresso coffee machine and will probably buy the cheapest one to begin with (Nespresso Essenza Mini Coffee Machine). Or maybe I should get the bigger model that does a wider variety of cup sizes. Are the Nespresso coffee pods compatible with ALL Nespresso coffee machines, or does it depend on size? This probably sounds like a really dumb question but I know nothing about coffee machines! I don't want to buy a machine and then find out most of the pods aren't compatible with it.
Also, do you add milk after the coffee has been made, or do some of the pods already contain milk powder?
