I always get a comforter - a little blanket with a teddy attached. You can get them in most places and every baby I've bought them for has made an attachment to it.

I often buy a really nice blanket (like the White Company ones) that can be used as a comforter too. I’ve also bought the boxed set of Beatrix Potter books that can be kept for when baby is older.

I’ve recently had a baby and was gifted way too many blankets, towels and cuddly toys. If you buy clothes I would get bigger sizes (3-6, 6-9 months) as everyone tends to buy smaller sizes. Books are also a nice thing to buy.

We popped to town yesterday and braved primark, they had a really soft blanket with a comforter attached with baby animals on, perfectly neutral too, so baby is done! Thank you all

I always buy bigger clothes for newborn as think everyone seems to but newborn/0-3months.

My 1st Years is a great website for gigs for babies and young children. Even if you just get an idea.

There is personalisation options but it doesn't have to be.

If the under 18s are older I don't think you can beat Boots 3 for 2 gifts

A personalised cardigan with the name on the back? (Obviously you might not yet know the name!) or sleepsuits with a really cool pattern on them?
