Hello all.

Two of the junior jelly's are celebrating their birthdays today. My little Irish twins. Littlest Jelly was 8 yesterday, they are both 8 for one day today and then Middle Jelly will be 9 tomorrow.

I am sad not to be with them but they are having fun and that is what matters. I never thought I would miss my children's birthday in all my life. 😓

Absolutely nothing else going on today. Naps, reading, snacks. Lather, rinse, repeat. On that lather and rinsing note I might try and have a shower if someone can help me but I think they are short staffed here today.

I hope mini melon has a lovely party and you are able to enjoy yourself @watermelon sugar

Hope mini melon has the best time at his party 🥰 🍉

I’ve been really struggling with my anxiety/ocd for the past few months so I took the plunge and enquired about counselling/CBT. To be able to get on a waiting list for actual appointments, I have to complete a course of online CBT and it feels like the least helpful thing ever. This is not my first rodeo foray into counselling and so I am very familiar with the breathing exercises but breathing exercises don’t help me when I feel like I need to touch certain things in the kitchen a certain number of times in a particular order to keep my family safe. I’m going to stick it out so I can get through to actually speaking to someone but I can feel myself getting worse each day and I’m really struggling 😔

On a brighter note, it’s so warm and sunny today, I hope everyone else is also having some nice weather and having a lovely day ❤

Oh lovely, be nice to yourself.

It sounds like you are really aware of what helps you but that is equally frustrating when you are 'forced' to take part in something that is unhelpful just to access what is actually helpful. Almost all forms of true cbt are unhelpful in ocd patients because they generally encourage the compulsion by trying to provide reassurance as the end result. Which as you probably know most people with ocd try to seek reassurance to get relief from the anxiety part of their ocd, so the cbt will offer a short term 'immediate' relief but doesn't help in the longer term easing of ocd because it just becomes about compulsive ritual.

Anyway, like I said it sounds like you know what works for you which is why it is hard when you have to jump through hoops to access the care you know works. Is that through the NHS? It probably is and I totally understand, but if not and you are self funding (and I know you probably can't do this but just throwing it out there on the off chance....) Better Help is a really wonderful service. Not available to all because of financial restraint which is not helpful I know.

I know we aren't therapy and maybe you feel like you just get reassurance from us because we are nice people with kind hearts here trying to be helpful but ocd doesn't always need that reassurance to fed your anxiety cycle (my keyboard first wrote cucumber instead of cycle there and anxiety cucumber

sounds like fun, kind of!) and keep things going.

I hope you can find a way to manage your thoughts and get some respite and I hope you can access the right help soon.

Until then just try and be kind to you 💕

It's 'No' on the poll from me. My testicles work by wind-pump and my sperms are aerodynamic, Kamikaze flyers.

@ordinaryjelly thank you so much for being so kind 💕 the cbt is through a private company via work, which I’m really lucky to have so I shouldn’t be grumbling about it. I am trying to do my own form of exposure therapy while I’m waiting but some days are really hard and I just can’t. I love the anxiety cucumber 🥰

o m g 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

@BelleAmie i'm so sorry to hear you are struggling, i know exactly how you feel. i have ocd too and it was the worst during high school for me. i discovered an AMAZING therapist and she did such an incredible job for me. nothing else helped me that much. it comes back but now i know how to deal with it. you seem very aware of it which is great and yes absolutely i can't recommend seeking help and therapy more. if you were here i'd send you the number of my therapist from back then. and if i could i'd give you my own number! 💕 but you know you can always reach us here and we're here for you!!

Afternoon all 😘 new thread and a bit of a recap for newbies...

Now don't ask me what we spoke about at the beginning of the last thread 🤷‍♀️ as I've been to B&M and Home Bargains since then so have totally forgotten!
@watermelon sugar finally moved into her new home and told the witch of the old landlord to 'do one witch but don't forget my deposit!'🖕
Sex was a topic of conversation and @Boredofthegram is having it everywhere apart from the bed, the saucy minx!;)
which bought us onto the question of 'do you need a towel or toilet roll after splooshing?' unfortunately @watermelon sugar didn't make that question the poll for this thread 😊
The best news of the last thread though was @ordinaryjelly getting back into the outside world and into a book shop🥳🙌❤ which gave us all tears in our eyes (in fact my eyes are watering again just writing this no joke!:()
according to someone kids shouldn't be allowed on holidays or airplanes with their parents and should be left at home a bit like Home Alone but without the fun and the festive cheer:unsure:
@Peaches_xox hubby is being a bit selfish, @watermelon sugar bloke left her alone with the baby to unpack all the stuff from the house move, so to round this recap off as always we think MEN ARE TWATS! (y)

I think grumbling is warranted, just because you are getting some help if you know it isn't the right help then grumble away.

ERP is hard, really hard. And if you are doing it without the support and help of a therapist then it is even harder. I don't know if you are on Instagram but thes is an amazing therapist called Kimberley Quinlan who hosts a podcast called Your Anxiety Toolkit. And it isn't a usual corny self help one. It is actual real help from her/others with lived experiences. I used to recommend her a lot when I was still working and lots of people really benefited from her podcast and advice. Maybe have a look and see if it is something that might help. It is all free.

And chatter away to us silly witches whenever you want. This past year has really down he the benefits of 'online' friends.

@BelleAmie Lovely lady, anxiety is tough and not easy to deal with. It debilitating and has a knock on effect to most things in your life. You have my sympathy as my anxiety was through the roof recently. I don’t do well with Counseling either, I feel it can be counterproductive. Breathing exercises work to a point as does tapping and repeating affirmations. I’ve learned a new thing recently. Fold a pillow in half and put it under your back near your bra strap area, let your head hang back. Open your arms wide and put your feet together like a diamond shape. Now breath as deep as possible, it opens the chest. It gets better the more you do it. If you have a half blown up ball that works better but a pillow will do. Sending hugs to you lovely 💗

Wishing Mini Melon a super fun day today. Happy birthday to him @watermelon sugar 🎂

@ordinaryjelly Today and tomorrow must be especially tough for your. Being without your children is difficult enough but on their birthdays you must miss them even more. You are doing well, we are rooting for you, cheering you on. next year you will be celebrating with them. Nothing can stop you lady, you have grit and determination! 💪

Sending hugs to all the silly witches who need it today xxxx

@BelleAmie you sound very similar to me. My self awareness is second to none. I always know exactly what is going wrong with me when my MH goes wild. Unfortunately it makes no difference to me with helping as my mind set during it is so negative
Cbt never helps me either. I KNOW how to change my mind set doesn't mean i find it easy to do.
Be kind to yourself ❤❤ there's no greater fight than one with yourself

I wish we could all be off tattle friends. I love our little community here 💕💕

You guys are the absolute loveliest witches ever 😭 I don’t feel like this is something I can talk to my friends/family about at the moment so it means so much to be able to whinge about things here.
@Libbylulu thank you for the tip, I’m definitely going to give it a go this afternoon x
@Meangirl815 I wish we could be real life friends too 💕 I completely get what you mean; it’s all good and well knowing what your triggers are but getting yourself out of a dark patch is so, so difficult. I hope you are doing ok at the moment x
@ordinaryjelly thank you so much for the advice, I will check out the podcast. It sounds like you’ve had similar issues to be in a position where you can share this advice and I hope you’re in a better emotional/mental state these days (your current medical issues aside notwithstanding). I hope middle and little jelly are having a lovely birthday weekend 😘
@Boredofthegram I hope you and mini bored have a lovely hotel stay, what a lovely activity for the two of you 🥰
@WilmaHun thank you for always being so lovely 💕 how are things with your mum today?

Loads of love to you all ❤❤❤
