What is it with aresehole men unwilling to pay for their own kids? I barely got a penny for either of my two.

What is it with aresehole men trying unwilling to pay for their own kids? I barely got a penny for either of my two.

Did you know CSA are not actively chasing parents who miss payments and are blaming it on Covid. Disgraceful. They actually have the power to confiscate are driving licenses- if only they used that power.

CSA is a waste of time. When these so called men get into another relationship and it all comes out that they don’t provide for their own children, what are the women thinking? Nothing would put me off more

I got absolutely no where with them over ten years ago. There was excuse after excuse as to why they couldn't get the payments. In the end, I just gave up and accepted that it was solely down to me to provide for my kids.

My kids have different fathers and my youngest child's dad began paying £25 per week when she was four, but it was paid if and when he felt like it. I eventually told him to shove it because I wasn't giving him the satisfaction of having that kind of power over me or my child. My oldest child's father has never paid a single penny in child maintenance. Even telling her to get a job at 13 when she asked him to contribute to a new school blazer. Waste of space the pair of them.

It makes me so sad! I was aware of the situation when I was a child and we struggled hugely financially - it really impacted me to think that he couldn't be arsed to be involved even from a financial point of view.

It is sad, mostly on the child concerned as they can grow up thinking that their father never cared enough to make sure they weren't struggling. Luckily, for you, you had a Mum that no matter how hard it was, she provided for you. Your father missed out on raising an incredible child.

And thank you, many people have criticised me over the years for telling him to shove it.

My own father didn't pay child support for me, even though he was supposed to through CSA. In 2019, when I was 27, we got a letter saying that his unpaid debts (to my mother/me) had been written off, so he essentially got away with it.

I'm fairly sure it is until they are 18/19. As kids have to stay in education or training (which the apprenticeship would come under) until 18 I think this is the absolute minimum.

Is the maintenance paid via child support agency? Or does he pay it voluntarily?

I thought if they were in education/ apprenticeship it should be till at least 18

Does she study as part of her apprenticeship? As this could be classed as still in education and therefore he would still be liable until she’s older. He’s still liable until August in any case, as the previous poster said
It may be worth pointing out to him that if you go through the Child Maintenance Service he may end up paying more as they’ll calculate it based on their formula, not on what you’d previously agreed and they’ll add their 20% fee on top. You’ll also lose 4% of what you get as their fee....

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this!
Ex has paid maintenance (reluctantly) but today my daughter turns 16. He's announced he no longer needs to pay it. She'll be starting an apprenticeship in September but has been home schooled for the last six months and has a part time job in the place she'll be doing her apprenticeship.
The Gov.uk website tells me whilst she's still in education he still needs to pay but I'm confused with the apprenticeship and the space between now and September!
Can anyone help or advise please?

They probably say they wanted to be there and provide but their psycho ex made it impossible!

If they are on a paid apprenticeship then maintenance will stop, if they stay in education it will continue until they are 18/19. Maintenance is due until the end of August as that is when your child benefit ends.

I've always thought this. But in my case, these women don't see an issue with it. As long as he pays for her kids, then that's all that matters. I'm beyond even giving a shit now. He was and will always be a complete waste of space and we neither want or need anything from him.

If they are in higher education then it's until that finishes. If there is outstanding debt then it's until that is cleared as well.
My daughter's father didn't pay CSA for years and years, evaded them and tried every trick in the book. They were still able to obtain his earnings and the debt just racked up. When CSA was dissolved and CMS started the debt carried over. He has to continue paying until this is clear.
