I'm glad my mum died by Jeanette McCurdy is also a must read imo.
Not a huge celeb over here, but my god an absolutely fascinating book about being raised by a stage mum and the horrors of child stardom. I re-read it last year, it's so well written.

Lauren Goodger is releasing an autobiography (probably written in crayon and the biggest font possible) soon, so I imagine David Nivens books are going to get obliterated in sales 😂

The Jodie Marsh one is so bad it’s genius and of course she is soooo modest too! It should be on the GCSE syllabus in my humble opinion.

Not strictly a biography but the Kenneth Williams Diaries are a brilliant read and I read them at least once a year as he was so up and down. The bitching is next level and his poor friends were either on favour or the worst people ever. Great for indiscreet gossip from the 1950-80s too

I recently read House of Beckham, and couldn't put it down.

Ebay and the local library are a great source.

Can anyone recommend a great celebrity biography?

I am currently reading Jodie Marsh (yes, I know), which I picked up in the local charity shop!
I can’t put it down.

It may say something about my head space atm...
The Jodie Marsh book is standard issue to all UK military personnel. However, if the economy improves, the authorities are planning to go back to issuing proper toilet paper.

Read the House of Beckham, really good and backs up everything Brooklyn said about them.

Also read Virginia Giuffre’s book. Totallly believe her, very sad about her death.

I doubt he'd appreciate being called a celebrity, but
the 'punk poet' John Cooper Clarke's autobiography, "I Wanna Be Yours" was very funny (though can't remember a word of it as these days I seem to forget a book the second I've finished the last page!)

Pop Scars by Kavana
More of an addiction memoir than anything else, but if you're interested in 90s pop music and the nastiness of show business/ life after fame you'll love it!

Catch a Falling Star by Cheryl Barrymore.

It is a little hard to get hold of now ( I found it on a charity book stall), but a good read if you can get hold of it.

At the beginning Cheryl basically says that the book is all true and he should sue if he thinks she has made anything up. AFAIK he didn't. Make of that what you will.

As well as going into what a dark and troubled man he is, the book spends a lot of time talking about how the entertainment industry worked at the time and that is really interesting in itself. Trying to be booked for a long run at a sea side show in the summer, going around the club circuit and getting little bits of TV work. It is all very different now.

Bob Mortimer's autobiography is great, and I liked Adrian Edmondson's even though he seems quite angry.

I read Ed Gamble's book and can't remember anything about it, sorry Ed!

It's not out yet, but looking forward to reading The make believe by Hannah Murray. I never watched Skins or any of her shows but I'm intrigued that she was taken in by some sort of Hollywood cult and was sectioned apparently.

I recently read Dave Davies’ autobiography ‘Kink’. It came out in 1996 but it was one I’d wanted to read for a few years and I bought a second hand copy. It had a train ticket from 2001 nestled inside, Forest Hill to London £2.40.

I very much enjoyed it, especially reading about the family growing up and how he and Ray Davies were simply two different people. It saddened Dave enormously but then again I sensed Dave moved through life looking through just his lens and not always thinking of consequences for others, particularly the women in his life. Speaking of which, he seems to have taken the opportunity to detail just about every sexual encounter he’s ever had, women and men. Maybe he thought he would be writing just the one, he’s since written another.

He completely lost me later in the book when it seems his editor gave him free reign to ramble on about his life-changing events with otherworldly voices (“intelligences”), ufos and other things which...well, I had to skip a few pages; but he certainly wants you to know all about it (and he knows it’s odd, but. Hmm, could be said for a lot of things. 😏) Otherwise it’s a very good read, especially as a fan of The Kinks, 60s music, lots of great stories.

Did Jodie talk about Michael Barrymore? That would interest me. Where is he these days? He seems to have been silent since that pool party. My mom was a fan of his shows and she thinks he is guilt ridden.
Get yourself on tiktok. He has a massive following of young people on there and is definitely not showing any signs of guilt 🤢

I enjoyed Crystal Harris - only say good things. She is Hugh Hefners widow and goes into quite some detail about her time at the playboy mansion.
